The first European show of my EU tour this June was in Graz Austria (Pics below) for the Springfestival. I played alongside Dorian Concept, Martyn and Samiyam on Thursday and ended up staying an extra day on Friday.
That extra night the good people over at FM4 asked me to come in and do a short interview and dj set. It seemed like most of the other djs coming into the studio were playing more danc-y type sets. So, given the gentle mist of rain outside, the proximity to rolling hills and a massive river, I figured I would go a more gentle route. (I admit this mix is more of something my alter ego “Welder” would put out, but the world is a weird place, you never know what can happen.) Here is the simple gentle set. Enjoy.

Amon Tobin occupies a peculiar position in the dance music firmament – a point where the gravitational forces of IDM, EDM, D’n’B and rather more hipster-friendly bass music balance one another out. He’s got every bit the production finesse, and often the weirdness, of WARP luminaries, he can also make some very deep and dark basement-friendly tunes – yet he is something of a rave superstar in the USA, and for The Six Rhythms EP he’s on Dutch loudness-warriors Noisia’s label Division. His Two Fingers guise was originally created for tracks with UK MC Sway, but it’s now an instrumental project. We won’t lie, the other tracks on this EP slide a bit far into stadium rave territory for us, but this one – a healthy dose of body-rocking warehouse electro – does the business and then some. It’s out on 22nd June – you can preorder on the Division site or iTunes.

Presenting ‘Motherland’; @UraanOfficial’s debut 4-track EP for Outtallectuals, blending elements of triphop, IDM and techno with the group’s regional signature sound from Yakutia, Siberia. Starting with the cold wailing melodies of downtempo openers, ‘Diamond’ and ‘Endless’, the EP gradually moves to the throat-singing-led experimental techno of ‘Ancestors Call’, before ending with ‘Sunrise Celebration’; a positive up-tempo blend of Siberian post-rock and electronica, in collaboration with Yakutian orchestra, Kyl Sakha.
