Story:
In the sprawling metropolis of Kanraiji, darkness had taken root. Shadows slithered through its streets like malevolent serpents, and the people lived in constant fear. But amidst the despair stood a beacon of hope: Akarai, a fierce warrior known for his unwavering courage and unmatched skill in battle.

In the year 2082, Akarai had been trained in the art of combat by the legendary warriors of Kanraiji Metropolis. His swordsmanship was unparalleled, and his resolve unbreakable. When the darkness first began to encroach upon the city, Akarai swore an oath to protect its people at any cost.

As the shadows grew stronger, so did Akarai's determination. He fought tirelessly against the forces of darkness, battling monstrous creatures and dark sorcerers with unmatched ferocity. But despite his valiant efforts, the darkness seemed to only grow stronger with each passing day.

Then, one fateful night, the dreadbringer, the source of the darkness itself, emerged from the depths of the underworld. A towering, malevolent being, it laid waste to everything in its path, leaving destruction and despair in its wake. The metropolis stood on the brink of annihilation, and Akarai knew that he was the only one who could stop it.

With grim determination, Akarai faced the dreadbringer in a final, epic battle. The clash of their weapons echoed throughout Kanraiji Metropolis as Akarai fought with all his might, drawing upon every ounce of strength and skill he possessed. But despite his bravery, he soon found himself overpowered by the dreadbringer's dark magic.

Realizing that he could not defeat the dreadbringer in combat alone, Akarai made the ultimate sacrifice. With a roar of defiance, he plunged his sword into his own heart, channeling his life force into a powerful blast of energy that engulfed the dreadbringer in a blinding light.

As the darkness began to recede, the people of Kanraiji Metropolis emerged from their homes, their faces filled with wonder and gratitude. For Akarai had saved their city, his sacrifice banishing the darkness once and for all. Though he had fallen in battle, his name would be forever remembered as a hero who gave his life to protect the ones he loved. And so, the legend of Akarai, the warrior who defeated the dreadbringer, lived on for generations to come.

New track recorded in March, 2012 as part of a video documentary on Author & Punisher and the Dub Machines shot by Lenovo (using the Lenovo Ideapad Y580).  This particular track utilizes the Mute Mask that I recently fabricated (shown in the photo) and am composing with. AUTHOR & PUNISHER, named, “one of the most prolific acts in aggressive music,” by Noisey, has just released his first album on Relapse Records entitled “Beastland”.  His newest and most intense album recalls Ministry, channeling Godflesh, traversing through dark, uncompromising, and often disturbing soundscapes, with occasional detours into rich melodies and splinters of light. After leaving a career as mechanical engineer in Boston to focus on art and sculpture, Tristan Shone, the creator and sole artist behind AUTHOR & PUNISHER, moved west to pursue his MFA in Southern California. In the metal and machine shops of University of California, San Diego, Shone forged a relationship with design, sound and fabrication that ultimately yielded AUTHOR & PUNISHER‘s first music and mapped the journey away from traditional instrumentation towards custom made, precision machinery. Shone used his technical knowledge, along with his artistic background to create what Wired Magazine has hailed as his own “special brand of doom metal.” All aspects of the AUTHOR & PUNISHER sound begin with physical movement, limbs struggling in unison to coordinate a wall of electronic rhythm and oscillation, ultimately conditioned by an organic and loose quality absent of sequencing and plastic perfection.
