Urbs is an intriguing combination of ambient textures with location sound recordings. Originally released on Compact Disc by Hypnos Recording (U.S, in 2012), Bruno takes up the work years later to re-imagine it with his current creative approach in the same Onix II Studio-home, on the mountains near Barcelona city. Not just textures to add interest to the more crafted sounds of music; these ghostly audio presences are the main forms within these blurry ethereal soundscapes. Here Bruno Sanfilippo has softened his sound palette into such subtle tones that it is pleasingly difficult to define "the boundary between [musical] sound and noise. Gentle and evocative, subtly textural and transporting, maybe you can hate or adore it, but it is hardly indifferent to you” ad21

“Where is the defined boundary between sound and noise? Music usually doesn’t seem comfortable with noise. Due to the fragility of its aesthetic dimension, urban noise, in its context common things, seems to be inexpressive. 
In this work I incorporate the murmur of cities as one more element that dissolves with the faint sound of electronic sources, in this case with the manipulation of a Korg Radias synthesizer and a Lexicon processor. 
The field recordings were obtained using an iPod Touch, inside churches, train stations, subway platforms and on the streets, and bars in cities such as London, Berlin, Paris, Moscow and New York. The cover photo was captured inside a bus in Berlin City with my mobile phone”  Bruno Sanfilippo

Bruno is an Argentine pianist, producer, and classically trained composer based in Barcelona who writes for strings, piano, and electronics. 
In 1998 he started as a producer for ad21, a personal label that has released the majority of his albums. Although he also collaborated on several projects with the labels 7K!, Moderna Records, Thesis, 1631 Recordings [Universal/Decca], El Muelle Records, and Dronarivm, among others.
His Piano Textures series, started in 2007, is one of Sanfilippo’s most representative set of recordings, but he has also gained wider recognition in modern music – one of his piano compositions formed the basis for rapper Drake’s seminal hit, ‘Started From The Bottom’.
In addition to recordings available on streaming platforms, Sanfilippo has a series of solo and collaborative albums that are available exclusively through Bandcamp, some of which were released by American labels in physical format between 2008 and 2012.
Sanfilippo regularly performs at various live and multimedia events, and at festivals all over the world.
