More specifically, it's a song about when I first met my future wife. One day she had a splinter in her hand, which the song talks about. I spent ages trying to get it out and it was super romantic. I remember it like it was yesterday. It was the first time I'd held her hand and I really wanted to kiss her but lost the nerve.

This was inspired by the events of 2016 and a fresh realisation of how meticulously beautiful nature and this planet is. It's a wake up call to humans and I hope an injection of hope and strength to those who are waking up to what really matters in life.

I did a tour of the UK last year with my dear friend Reece Jacob. This was one of the songs he would sing every night opening for us. I fell in love with it and asked him if he would let me cover it. Hope I've done it justice! It was a song I definitely could relate to a few years back.

This song was written on a pitch black night in a freezing warehouse/studio in the dodgy back lots of Leeds, Northern England. I remember the wind slamming things up against the steel door and making me dread the idea of biking home. Then, in a single explosion, came the torrential rain in what sounded like outbursts of pure fury thrashing at the barred windows.
It was already about 10pm and I’d had a long rough day after a series of pretty rough weeks and had been feeling pretty low. It was kinda cozy being trapped like this, so I sat down at the piano in my jacket, scarf and hat to play something to soothe my turbulent state and this song came out. Hope you enjoy it!
