This feels like a very high-energy 6 (and could have also been earlier in the set as a 4, I think, if you had wanted); and as a 6 it feels appropriate to me in the context you outlined (getting them ready to go out dancing more!)

Part of me is wanting a track between these two, to bring the energy down more gradually...and part of me enjoys the noticeable change

These gorgeous deeper vocals coming in...

I noticed one moment in this transition, just before you took out Conga Rock, where the density in the mids felt greater to me, and I wonder, there, about playing with EQ's to see if it could be clarified a little (this is a nitpicky point as it still felt wonderful)

I'm wanting a last few moments that feel more gradual. This ending felt a little sudden to me, like I was walking and suddenly stopped...when I wanted to just amble and maybe then slither...

PhDJ Assignment Info:

The task to embody what we’ve been experencing during module 4 led me to feel into the beauty and power in the intensity of my shadow side. So the whole thing is intense from start to finish and designed to embrace darkness and power. Some notes for the reviewer:

- I wanted to experiment with how it would feel to go in with an insanely intense 1 which has a solid beat but basically none of the other 1 elements I usually use, then dive straight into 2+ / 3, then back off after that for a breath of air with some 2-ish melodies a few tracks later. Imagining that the people at this festival have already been dancing HARD and loving it and so don’t need to be brought down to a regular 1. I tried to welcome and set the scene and root into the set but… it is a LOT because the set is designed to be intense. It may be too much and actually dysregulating. Interested to hear how it lands, particularly in the context of my breather a few songs later. Took a lil inspiration from Tasha’s get down anniversary mix with this format - the way she started pretty much straight away with a 2+ / 3 vibe then backed off into 2 lightness a little later before heading into 3 again.
- I am REALLY working on learning titration, so I tried to go up into intensity, then back off a bit a few times in this mix. Attempted to do this without losing the build but would be v interested in how it landed. 
- I tried a very light entry to 5 but it felt inconsistent with the rest of the set so the 5 starts kinda darkly, then lightens up as time goes on. I didn’t dwell in 5/6/7 too long either as I ran out of time - I’d add a lengthier  landing if I re-recorded

PhDJ Assignment Notes:

I went into Tasha’s feedback and worked with the following:

- Add more grounding in 1 and coherence in 2/2+
- Add a ‘mini explosion’ after Gobi
- ‘Bring them to tears’ with an evocative tingly 5, after the dark 4
- Try swapping Balcon and Kaleido to see how it would feel (it didn’t work so I didn’t do it - I actually ended up losing both of these tracks)
- Add a landing in 7

I initially tried to keep the 3, 4, 5 and 6 the same as feedback was that they were strong. However, this was tricky - once I played around with the flow to include the above points, I needed to change other tracks too to maintain coherence. As such, I ended up chaning some of the 2+/3 and adding a whole new 5-6-7 that flowed well from the ‘bring them to tears’ 5. So… here she is. 2.0.

Kaleid-o-scope 2.0

Huun-Huur-Tu is a group of Tuvan musicians and throat singers (Tuva is a republic of Russia situated along the Russia/Mongolia border).  While the thrust of Huun-Huur-Tu's music is fundamentally indigenous Tuvan folk music, they also experiment with incorporating not only Western instruments, but electronic music as well.  I had the opportunity to see this amazing group at Beloved festival in Oregon in 2017, and when I heard this glorious song I knew I had to give it a global trap touch...
