For the 21st instalment of our mix series we have Audio Social co-founder Destrata stepping up with an hour of low tempo bass. Rolling through mutant dancehall, slow uk bass, & percussive bangers from around the globe, this mix showcases the 100-115 BPM bass sound at its most energetic.

Vancouver based DJ and Producer Destrata is never one to be limited by a specific genre or style. His debut track ‘Bait & Switch’, a 130 BPM hybrid drum workout, came out on Martyn’s legendary 3024 label in 2021 as part of the “It Was Always There’ compilation series. This was followed quickly by his debut EP ‘Low Sun’ on Danish label Indexlife; which combined minimal bass sensibilities with the percussive edge of Uk Funky.
In early 2022 the Norwegian label Top Billing released the ‘Energy Boyz Ep’, a collaboration between Destrata and techno producer Garneau. A hybrid of ravey breakbeat and classic electro, their Energy Boyz side project is an outlet for both producers' less serious side. Destrata’s output of left of center, percussion focused club music continued with his latest EP released on London's Eat My Beat in 2022, as well as another release with dutch imprint Intercept slated for later in the year.

It has been a journey DJing this summer, having to confront PTSD on stage at Future Forest, navigating new genres, but it all came together at Stacks. 1 More Thing is proud to be signing out of 2022 with a very very special mix from Jon1st as he presents his latest end of year megamix. 

An annual tradition dating back to 2010 when Jon decided to make a mix of his favourite tracks from the year to give away at his old club night, Jon’s retrospective sessions are a festive fixture as firm as cold cut sarnies, family fall-outs and that weird feeling that you don’t quite know what day of the week it is, only they’re a hell of a lot more fun… Especially this year’s mix as it concludes a game-changing year for the Leicester-based artist.

Following two years off-road due to lockdowns, Jon’s been busier than ever taking his unique high energy style around the world. He’s also found time to drop two massive EPs with Shield and Arcane respectively, collaborate with folk band Stick In The Wheel, and he’s been working in the classical realm for an impressive community-based project that commences next year. These are just the headlines.

Bass Coast 2023 [Slay Bay Sunday Eve]

Hailing from Singapore, JPS move to Melbourne in 1999 opened up the world of Drum n Bass to him. Launching the successful Bassix, local parties with Blanco allowed him his first taste of promoting and secured his place as one of Melbourne’s most respected DJs. This led on to the establishment of Elementz, with Blanco and DJ Fletch, which is now one of Australia’s most successful DnB events teams. Elementz Sound Collective has been described many times as Australia's foremost drum n bass promotions group. One only has to look back through the countless high quality events represented in Australia by Elementz throughout the years to acknowledge that this title is entirely deserving. Representing and touring international DnB artists and in the process making many important contacts Elementz has established itself as the primary Australian touring agent whilst working with overseas artist managements for the likes of Goldie, Suv, Teebee, Roni Size, J Majik, Noisia , Klute, Total Science, DJ Cash Money and many more.
 
 JPS loves digging in his collection to present a multi Genred Mash-up of hip hop, funk, soul, future beats, Salsa, Samba, dancehall, DnB, Reggae or basically whatever else comes to mind. In recent times he has also started exploring production by means of collaborations with Kiat, Johnny Hooves and Motive, proving successful and leading to being signed to OBSEsessions and Qilin as well as receiving play by the likes of Concord Dawn, Asides, Kiat, Flying Lotus and more. JPS current focus (as well as playing weekly and promoting international parties) is on his management group, The Operatives, an agency that focuses on artists in the Asia Pacific and aims to raise the profile of local artists throughout the world. JPS now manages some of the Melbourne DnB talent and looks after NZ superstars Concord Dawn, Klute, Opiuo, Dizz1, Flying Lotus, Gaslamp Killer for Australiasia. 

The Operatives have strived to achieve the most forward thinking individuals in this arena of music. Having already hosted numerous DnB tours including the likes of Goldie, Concord Dawn, Marcus Intalex, Doc Scott and many more. Over the last few years, the Operatives has hosted a range of events including a vast array of artists including DJ Craze, Gilles Peterson, Platinum Pied Pipers, Recloose, The Nextmen, Mark de Clive Lowe, Freddie Cruger, Aloe Blacc, Jazzanova, Maurice Fulton, Theo Parish, DJ Marky, The Mixologists, Hudson Mohawke as well as run the Australian tours for Gaslamp Killer, and  Flying Lotus. He was also the chief booker for Redbull Music Academy 2006 in Melbourne.
 
Having played to packed crowds in Singapore, Australia, UK and the US as well as supporting the top internationals on the touring circuit including Goldie, Mark Rae, Ursurla Rucker, Krust, Die, Roni Size, Patife, Total Science, Klute, Zinc, BSE, Ben Mono, Marcus Intalex, Suv, Bad Company, Friction, Ray Keith, Trace, Moving Fusion, SS, Kila Kela, Pendulum, Bryan Gee, The Mixologists, Andy C, Subfocus, Mampi Swift, Doc Scott, Bryan G, C4C and Kiwi boyz Upbeats, Shapeshifter Sound System and Concord Dawn as well as local heros Pendulum and many more, this dub styled warrior always keeps it fresh and running.
