Well it's been a year now since the release of a RaphaelGTR/Jaime J. Ross/Lee Lucas release, and it was in August last year that we put out a song I absolutely still love till this day, none other than "I Remember When" I cannot tell you enough what that song really means to me, and even though I only actually sang it, and Raphael handled the music and Jaime the lyrics. I can honestly say it's one of my all time fave of songs on my cloud that I was dead proud to have taken part in.
 
"Before We Said Goodbye" is our latest offering between the 3 of us, and I have to say it was quite a challenge and took a bit of work to get this one done. I also felt that having done " I Remember When" with these great guys it was gonna be a pretty hard act to follow, and it had to be right if it was going to work, and many changes were made during the course of its progress. 

Talk about making more work for people, but I have to say these guys done a purely terrific job, and once again I feel we have done another great song together, to which once again I am so honoured to have taken part in.

Our 3rd tribute in the Thin Lizzy Tribute Project series is one of the bands most popular hits taken from their 1977 album Bad Reputation. The songs full title is "Dancing in the Moonlight (It's Caught Me in Its Spotlight)" It's very much a song that had a Saxophone on it and something both me and Allan never had the privilege of having when we both used to do this song live in our respective bands years ago.  

Being on Soundcloud which hosts an array of fine musicians, I very much decided to rectify that problem and called upon my good friend Dave McKeown. Who is one fine Saxophonist and multi talented instrumentalist, who I knew would fit and hit the spot in this Spotlight.

I have to say Dave as done a terrific job for us here, and both me and Allan are privileged and highly honoured to have him onboard. Allan also as once again done a terrific job himself on putting the music together for both me and Dave to work on, and I would like to thank them both most sincerely.

Lee Lucas & Allan Lyon - Dancing in the Moonlight - Ft:Dave McKeown (Thin Lizzy Tribute)

Endless Journey is the result of me and my great new friend Daion. I came across Daion's fine cloud about 3 months back in December and was totally amazed at this guys Guitar Riff's  and his cloud was full of snippets of ideas and basically little samples of around 1 minute or 2 long mostly.

This little piece was one of those that was a minute long and entitled Endless Journey. Not very long for an endless journey I felt but what I seen in the piece was this beautiful transitional change that spoke to me highly. It's very much the same sort of change you would get in many Prog Rock pieces that takes the music somewhere else, and in another direction to which is everything I love about this sort of music.

I would like to thank Daion for his superb job on the music he has done here. He is a great musician who as a purely fantastic vision for the music I love the best, and he ROCKSSSSSS.

Lee Lucas & Daion - Endless Journey

Happy To Grow Old (When There's You) is a sentimental country blues ballad of a song to which I wrote the title and the words on a personal level for my good friend Conrad who done the music a good while ago now, and to which he wrote for his first grandson James. Since then he has become a granddad twice.

I have had the music for this a good 6 months now and felt it was time to get around to writing the lyrics, to which I started last week and sang them this week. Conrad was rather hoping I had done the lyrics for another southern rock tune he gave me a couple of weeks back, but I felt this one was well overdue and decided to get to work on this first.

Having presented it to Conrad at the pub on Tuesday evening to listen to for the first time on my phone, we both decided it could do with a baby in it. So I threw in a baby via the use of a couple of sounds from Freesound Org this morning for the final release.

"Shoot Out The Lights" is the result of an open collaboration my good friend Stefan (Rock Flexible) put out around near enough three weeks back now. It's the first in a short series of NoNameYet songs of Playback tracks inviting singers to have a bash and write some lyrics and a title for and sing it.

Well having heard Stefan's great track and great work it instantly appealed to myself and totally rocked that much I decided to have a go at it myself. I had some free time to get to work on it this week and squeeze it in between some of the other collabs I am currently working on. 

For my interpretation for this one I decided to go dark and evil and do a bit of Satan Rock regarding the lyrics I wrote. There was a section I did not want sing on or write a couple more verses, so I decided to throw in my own little lead break on the guitar. Though that is perhaps a bit boxed standard as the lead guitar is not my forte one bit.

Lee Lucas & Rock Flexible - Shoot Out All The Lights

The first in a new series of Lee (Jack Jones) Lucas songs to hit the cloud. For those who do not know who "Jack Jones" is, it's simply a rhyming slang name that stands for "on your own" On my own is not perhaps quite so true in this song I have recently written, as I roped in Julie and got her off her bike to say a few words in the song for me.

"She's So Cold" is very much a song that lyrically contains what one might call offensive language. I myself felt it was necessary to have in for the subject matter I am trying to put across here, which is based  how some men can be lazy bums in not wanting to lift a finger in the house to help with the many chores a woman has to tackle from day to day. Any good woman would only stand it for so long before either walking out, or kicking her fella out. It's also easy to call your other half names when she nags you death to get off your butt and do something too (LOL) and call her cold, hence my title for this song.

I would like to thank Julie for giving me an helping hand, with what may seem a small contribution with her little part in this, but it was something I really felt necessary to make the song work, and with how she has expressed the words I wanted her to say. She also gave me a few more besides :))))) she really does play the part well, and I sure as hell would not want to mess with her (LOL) I see her contribution playing much more of a bigger part than it actually seems. She done the business for me here, and thanks Julie.

"Before The Battle" is a superb Prog Metal Rocking piece of music Stefan posted a few months ago on his cloud. It was very much one of those pieces that instantly appealed to me to do something with. Now this week at last I have finally been able to get around to working on it and this is the end result, to which I am well pleased with.

Lee (Jack Jones) Lucas - I'm Looking At You (Are You Looking At Me)

"The Parting Glass" is a traditional Irish folk song written a good few hundred years back, and one that became very popular with the Scots even as far back as the 18th century. It was that popular in Scotland that it may have even inspired the great Robbie Burns to write the poem "Auld Lang Syne" which was put to music and became even a more of a tradition for the Scots to bring in the new year. 

My good friend Mark posted an acapella of him singing the traditional song awhile back in our secret garden group on facebook. it instantly appealed to me and I loved  how he sang it, and even the ambient presence he had around it. This week I finally got around to playing some music to support it and we both felt Christmas would be the most appropriate time to put it out.

Lee Lucas & Daion - Stone Blind

A month or so back my good friend Ian Tait messaged and sent me a cover of a Deep Purple song he had done the music to, and asked if I would like to sing it. Well to be honest normally I would jump at the chance, but when I seen the song of theirs he wanted me to sing, I knew it would not suit my voice and instantly another clouders voice who I knew who would be perfect to do the job sprang to mind. So I gave him my recommendation for the job and told Ian to get in touch with him.

Now I do not know if Ian had done, but as he asked me in the first place, it was about a month prior to this, I happened to hear a superb instrumental piece he put out on his cloud, he entitled "Le Mans" and at the time I heard the piece I actually thought about messaging Ian myself to ask him if I could write some lyrics to it and sing it. So now was my perfect opportunity to ask him, as I did not really want to let him down in the first place.

There is no doubt in my mind that Ian's instrumental track "Le Mans" is bang on perfect to the title of the famous motor racing event and sport. Ian had also mentioned to me at the time he sent me his music, that I could change the title if I liked, and as a rule I never like to, as it already gives me a subject matter to write about and in reality is a great starting point. But straight away I knew that this particular subject of motor racing was never gonna be something I wanted to write about. Simply because this sport and cars for that matter do not interest me one bit. So I very much decided to change the title to "Breaking Point" and go in an entirely different direction regarding the subject matter for the lyrics I wrote here, to which I still feel works very well with Ian's superb music. 

In order to make "Breaking Point" work for me as a singer, I very much had to chop up Ian's music and rearrange and piece it together to suit all the parts I wanted to sing in it. In doing so, I had to throw out a lot of Ian's great guitar work, and even though my version is only 1 minute shorter than Ian's, there is in fact a lot more I have thrown out of his original piece to make this work. So I really do suggest you do if you get the chance, give Ian's original track a blast, it really is superb.

Lee Lucas & Ian Tait - Breaking Point

My first ever collaboration with a guy I have always loved and admired for god knows how long on the cloud. He is none other than my good friend Hans Michael more recently known as a.k.a. Clouders For. 

A few weeks ago my good friend Hans put a piece of music out as an open collab to which he entitled "Life Is". The music was in fact a slandered blues piece, but nothing is ever standard with this guys approach to it. For me Hans is a guy who very much as a personal touch of his own in every way. He is one of my top guitarists on the cloud who you will instantly recognise with his touch on the guitar. His style is formidable and what he did here instantly appealed to myself when I first heard it.  I knew I could add my own personal touch to Hans music and make it in a way to say something even more about Rock rather than the Blues, and it had a load of scope to use vocal expression to which I myself love.

The title alone Hans chose for his piece of music, I instantly latched onto and decided to call it "Life Is.. (Nothing But A freak Show). It was a great subject matter  for me to write about and try and put myself in the frame of living as a real freak. 

A freak in reality is something abnormal or a person with a deformity that instantly looks out of place with what one is used to seeing. Many moons ago such a person being deformed or looking out of place, people would pay money for and put on display as some sort of monster in a museum or a travelling Circus.

One very person who did such a thing back in the 1800's was a chap by the name of Phineas Barnum. he saw it as a way of making a profit out of and making a good living for himself. Yet for the Freak in reality it was nothing but a way to be ridiculed and treated badly by such people without any real feelings at all, and laugh at and abuse them.

I would like to thank my good friend Hans for letting me use his great music for my own personal visualisation here, and in reality it has made me get off my arse regarding my own skin condition which plagues  me every year and even makes me feel like a Freak.

My 2nd collab with my good friend Dom a.k.a. Warm Jet only this time an original song instead of a cover. Dom approached me a couple of weeks back with a piece of music he had done and asked if I would like to write some words and sing it. Well having heard the music first it really appealed to me, so I felt why not.

"Smokey Joe & His Cadillac" is the title I came up with, and I basically wrote a story about a guy who spends most of his money on materialistic things and neglects everything else around him, including himself.

Lee Lucas & Warm Jet - Smokey Joe & His Cadillac

Well having heard a most beautiful little acoustic guitar ditty by Philip Bridle the other day, both his music and the title of Kintsukuroi instantly inspired me to write some lyrics and sing along to it. 

Kintsukuroi is a Japanese form of art of mending broken pottery in an artistic way. The end result of how it is mended had many people breaking their valuable pieces just so it could be repaired with its new artistic look and appearance.

To make Phil's great music work for the way I wanted to approach it. I decided to chop it up a bit and glue it back together in my own artistic way so I could make it more comfortable for the verses to work as a song. 

Because I liked the subject matter that much I very much decided to keep the title and write the words around it all. I have to admit my pronunciation of the word "Kintsukuroi" is not how it is supposed to be, but it worked better for me in a folky way. So I apologise to all my Japanese friends.

I would like to thank Phil for igniting the spark with his beautiful piece of music and I hope you all enjoy....

Tranquil Moments is a little ditty of a piano solo I done on the weekend whilst going through some patches in Camel Audio Alchemy. Having heard this rather nice ambient piano I could not resist playing with it and I came up with this minimalistic piano piece of music inspired by the sound.

Lee Lucas - Tranquil Moments

Well I was intending to release another piece for my Atlantis album project today but I put it on hold until next week for this little beauty I knocked up yesterday. 

The Glorious Waters of Spring is intended for vocals to which I will get down to writing and singing for another time, it's also a piece I have in mind for a collaboration for 2 other SC artists though they do not know it yet lol... 

My intention is to sing on the 2 chorus sections of this piece, and another vocalist to do the verses, and also replace my badly VST guitar patch I used for this with a real guitar. I could I suppose play the guitar myself, but I have a couple of good guitarist's in mind who will do a better job than my own skills on the guitar.

Just like my last release Tranquil Moments, I have also made a video for this new piece, which is aimed at  describing the glorious waters of spring, which is the season we are in now in my own country England. You can view the video by pressing the Video Button.

Well on the 1st of January last year I released my most successful song on cloud "Another Year and Another Day. This year I so much wanted to do another piece with a bit of vocal in but my sore throat as not quite healed enough for me to sing. Hence an instrumental track.

Time Flies By For Another Year is perhaps a reminder as one gets older another year soon comes around. I started this piece one New Years Eve and very much finished it off in the early hours of New Years Day.

Lee Lucas - Time Flies By For Another Year

The Carpet Crawlers is the 2nd in the series of early Genesis tribute songs I am over the moon to be taking part in with my good friend Graham who seems to carve out these songs superbly with his great talent and love for a band I very much love myself and can never tire of hearing.  For those who know the song from their 1974 album Lamb Lies Down On Broadway they will know that this song is from a concept story album which is why the lyrics may seem a little bizarre to those who do not. 

For our version of the song we decided to go down the road of the 1999 version when Peter Gabriel went back into the studio to record the song with Genesis once again to where he omitted the last verse of the song. We very much done the same thing and I put quite a bit of my own feel and adlibs into this one, which were perhaps to give it a more aggressive approach to end it all off.  So effectively its perhaps a 2013 version.

A Stranger Living in a Ghost Town is the result of a collaboration of taking part in this year's SC Tombola. I was well pleased when I seen I had been drawn with my good friend Peter Bennborn especially as I had heard Peter's fine work both as a great musician and producer before, to which he does pretty much a top job of, and is involved in many projects on the cloud.

It did not take Peter long to throw some ideas at me and he presented me with a couple of ideas, and the backdrop of music he sent to me on this one caught my attention enough to inspire me to work out a title and some lyrics for it.

Lee Lucas & Peter Bennborn - A Stranger Living in a Ghost Town (SC Tombola Collab)

I very much started out playing instruments very late in life, and spent much of my earlier days listening to it, rather than playing it. I am very much a self taught musician and regard my instruments very much like implements, tools or devices to write with, rather than being anything remotely near a good playing musician of any great technique. 

I guess I really got into instruments more back in 1994 when I got into my first band (though I did learn to play the Harmonica when I was 8 years old) it was around this time I wrote a song on the Guitar entitled Oldtime Street. The song is very much even today one that contains some of the finest lyrics I have ever written, and very much perhaps inspired me to carry on.

Though the band back in 1994 was a very short affair, it was not long after I got into a R&B band performing Rock & Blues in various pubs around my own town Birmingham. I was very much the lead singer in this outfit which lasted some 6 years. Though during these years the band had gone through several line up and name changes and came to a stop in 2001. I suppose it was a bit of relief in a sense, because it's quite easy to put a band together, but murder to keep everyone happy, and keep it going.

Even though I only really did Vocals and played my Harmonica in the band, I still found time now and then, for my guitar, and my keyboards at home, and I also contributed in a big way to our own compositions in the band.
