Ruthless Murder!!!

dubstep tune i wrote from getting inspired by some old samples i came across from 01'. feedback welcome. onto the next one! was listening to some old dmz and such so its more on that vibe.

Simple Structures

sort of ended up themed like an old Rob Dougan track.
I kept the simple and minimal notation and chords, but expanded on the orchestral stabs at the end to make use of full orchestral chords throughout.
Didn't mess with the vocals, as they were already pretty ideal for the orchestral structure, plus were good lyrics, sung well, recorded cleanly etc. "if it ain't broke..."
Went with a lullaby style melody for the accents, developed off of the chord structure. Kinda liked the slightly haunting end sound.
The synths used were mostly built on Reaktor, but a couple of the more experimental patches of a Bass Station II and a Waldorf Rocket were run through a really old POD guitar FX unit to make some of the weirder pads and bass sounds, as well as the subs, just because I find patching that stuff in stupid and weird ways is pretty fun, and sounded way richer than the soft synths.
The drums were sketched out on a Launchpad, but finger drumming on that is impossible (thank god for auto timing). A couple of samples were from sliced amen breaks, a couple from acoustic kit samples, and even I think an old filtered vengeance kick (I know, right?) recorded out, tiny bit of external compression (but tried to keep it pretty analogue sounding) and layered together.
