Canadian General Romeo Dallaire appeared at the University of San Francisco on 03.07.2016 to give a talk titled “The Courage to Do What Is Right: From the Hell of Rwanda to the Plight of Syrian Refugees.”   Several hours before the talk, I spoke to Yves Engler about General Dallaire’s prominence in Canadian nationalist mythology, and his advocacy for wars to quote, “stop the next Rwanda,” on Pacifica's Flashpoints Investigative Radio.  Engler is the author of The Black Book of Canadian Foreign Policy, Canada in Haiti: Is This How Friends Act?, Canada and Israel: Building Apartheid, and Canada in Africa: 300 Years of Aid and Exploitation.

The NATO military powers have used the same narrative to justify "humanitarian military interventions" in Libya and Syria.
