When we got the call from the Robot Heart team asking if we were going to attend the Free Burn, and would we be able to DJ their 1st sunrise since 2019, we knew something special was about to take place.  

Both of us had performed solo sets on the bus many times in the past, but this was to be our 1st time playing as a duo. This special sunrise set is a dedication to the life of Robot Heart founder, Geo. 

We did our best to capture his inspiration, celebrate his contribution, and shine a light on his legacy.

We had several discussions back and forth with RH members that knew Geo well, and with that knowledge, we prepared special songs and spoken word moments to honor his memory.

Apart from that we did not plan out any of the set, and allowed the moment and energy to guide our selections and musical choices. 

We’d like to thank the entire RH Family for their trust and support over the years. And we’d especially like to thank all the true Burners who were in attendance, for adhering so well to Larry’s 10 principles, respecting the Playa, and reminding us all why we make this trek out to the barren, yet magical landscape, every year. Together we danced to celebrate life, and in particular, to celebrate the life of Geo, as he watched from above.  

We hope this recording brings a smile to the faces of all the lovely Burners who were in attendance, and also to all those Burners, including Geo (who were there in spirit) dancing in the dust, with sunshine and freedom, radiating all around us.

Sabo & Goldcap - Robot Heart - Free Burn 2021

Hello friends! Here is the recording of my very first set at Stereo Montréal

A place that truly feels like (((home))) 

A room that means so much to many of us and that sparks wonders for those who haven't been yet. A space where we can be free, all together. A spaceship that uses vibrations to bend space and time. A temple where music becomes alive.

It was an honour to have the chance to play in this room for 11 hours to the most amazing group of humans. It's been a dream of mine for so many years to have the chance to play there and it's one of most meaningful moments I ever lived. Stars were aligned, the collective energy was truly beautiful and I am happy to be able to share with you the soundtrack of that night. 

Thanks to all the @stereonightclub team for the incredible work to co-create such a sacred space for music. 

A special thanks to Luc for the cosmic visuals during the night.

And thanks to all of you family and friends who joined the journey.

Kora @ Stereo Montréal • All Night Long • Part One [30.04.2022]

On Monday afternoon my camp Rise and I headed out for the first time on our artcar. Driving all across Burning Man for five hours was the perfect way to get a sense of the magnitude of this incredible spectacle. Besides my fellow Rise family more and more people hopped on the artcar. The vibe was incredible! And this ended up being one of my favourite memories of the week.

At one point we were cruising deep playa while the sun was setting. The artcar was super packed. Everything is covered in a smooth golden light. People dancing. People holding on to the car on their boards. People cruising along on their bikes. This was such a surreal and magical scene to experience. And int he back of our minds we were all realizing that this was only the first day. This was only the beginning of one of the most special weeks of our lives.

As it all happened very spontaneously, nothing was recorded, and so I decided to re-record part of this memorable journey and share it with you.

Special thanks to Rise for hosting me and for bringing the most incredible art experience to the playa.

Isaiah Martin has been an integral part of programming the music for PlayAlchemist for years and is our Music Maestro for the annual Alchemist Ball. This year he invited Snow Raven to perform live with him and the magic was electric! Their set was completely unrehearsed and a pure flow state of music. Taking you back to that portal opening sunrise….

SNOW RAVEN - SUOR was born in one of the most remote and cold inhabited places in the world - the Republic of Sakha - Yakutia (arctic Siberia). She was three years old when she started to learn the language of birds and animals. Her voice takes its breath from traditional Sakha culture and is truly an instrument. She is the OG of “arctic beatbox” - the reindeer breath and the founder of OLOX, the NEOshamanic Portal to a Decentralized Humanity, Earth and Consciousness.

A Costa Rican sunrise high up in the jungle to close the celebration of the nuptials of Jake and Dani. Such a pleasure to share music amongst an incredible group of humans gathered to support these two.

I picked up from Jason Douglas around 4am and then started into the sunrise from 45 min in or so. The clouds prolonged what was ultimately a moody, emotional sunrise, and it was a neat opportunity to play with the soundtrack for our shared experience as they teased us with the light. 

Jason rejoined me for the end to close it down b2b - last 4 tracks/~22min.

A fantastic start to 2023. Dreamscape / Crania chapeau! Location, production, and all the fun anomalies made this night memorable and the recording fire. Taking over from DJ Harvey made me kick off the set light and tropical before I found a clear direction on where to take things. Shout out to @dramian for closing it so tastefully, and much love to everyone for the overwhelming feedback this weekend.

Grateful I get to play these beautiful pieces. Many unreleased, so high fives to all the studio nerds out there i admire.

“On sacred Colombian territory we entered a challenging and rewarding adventure that will help us deconstruct limiting beliefs to access and ignite our authentic self.” (Re-treated)

It was night time and the full-ish moon was smiling down as the river flowed and all the creatures made their distinct sounds. A fire warmed our bodies as music feed our souls. 

Inspired by the human experience that unfolded in a beautiful container surrounded by Mother Nature. This set was a celebration of the journey’s ending … or was it the just beginning ;) I was in a complete flow state, I knew two tracks I wanted to start with and two towards the end. Tunes were pulled from many different pockets of my collection.

On the property was an amazing labyrinth. Our journey and realizations through it weaved their way into this set. I later googled life and labyrinth and found this:  

“Our life path can be viewed as a labyrinth guiding us to deeper meaning and fulfillment. Walking a labyrinth takes us through numerous twists and turns that symbolize the ebb and flow of life. Like the design of a labyrinth, what looks like an end point in life can also be a beginning point.” (link below)

I’m now obsessed with labyrinths!!! Thus the title of this release.

A private gathering in the gorgeous Oaxacan beaches of Zipolite to celebrate one of our best friend's birthday. This was the closing Sunrise DJ set to close out our blissful week, where we not only celebrated JJ but also our deepening friendships. Enjoy and happy bday JJ!

A Monday like no other... After 9 hours wait to enter, we cruised the playa for the first time, we joined our Gardens of Babylon family for their welcoming party in Bang Bang, with so many familiar faces and friends, we directly felt at home! 
We then hoped on Maxa Camp's magical Deer art car, and drove toward Bang Bang, all of a sudden the party became a moving party, so many colourful bikes were following, we were completely mesmerized, it was the first time we played for a moving dancefloor! Until we reached the playa and then the crowd just didn't stop getting more colourful, more lights, more vibe. It literally was out of this world. 
What a welcome to Burning Man <3 !

Parallelle @ Burning Man 2018 | Maxa Art Car | The Gardens of Babylon

While lifelong musician, event producer, and discerning selector, Justin Shaffer was born and raised in New York City, he has spent the last decade gathering people and building community in San Francisco. In 2024, he now splits his time between SF and Berlin.

Justin’s musical journey started young, picking up the cello at age 6. After 12 years of classical training, he then pursued jazz via the tenor sax. Concurrently, he cut his teeth in the mid-late 90s NYC underground house music scene, a period from which he continues to draw inspiration.

Curious and focused, he shifted his energy from classical and jazz performance to studio work and audio engineering. This path eventually led him to a deep commitment to the audio experience, with the better part of the last decade spent focused on audio engineering, learning musical curation, and producing experiences, predominantly with the Robot Heart crew.

For the past few years, Justin has shifted his musical focus to DJing. An enthusiast and a passionate storyteller with a critical ear, he is becoming known for a deep musicality in his expression of the craft. Relentlessly crate digging through his frequent travels, he continues to expand his esoteric and avant-garde vinyl collection that he plays from.

This perspective has allowed Justin to build a deep sensitivity for what’s right in the moment, and he is comfortable playing in any context for an extended experience.

His sets have moved dance floors in SF, New York, Nevada, Mexico, Germany, France, UK, Italy, Australia, Costa Rica, and India - with no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
