Volume 2: POST-FERGUSON

The day after Beyoncé's Super Bowl performance shocked the nation, rapper Tef Poe releases "Message to Macklemore", a powerful freestyle responding to the Macklemore's latest offering, "White Privilege Part 2." Although some may consider the song a dis, Poe says that it is not.  Tef Poe's song highlights the very real impact that systematic racism has on Black artists, who never have the same freedoms as their white counterparts. This is  apart of the #52Weeks freestyle series .Poe plans to release a new song or freestyle once a week  for a year. For this contribution he unloads over the instrumental for Macklemores hit single "Wings".

On Letter to a Young Rapper Sole teams up with Canadian super producer Ryan Hemsworth to draft a sarcastic yet poignant message to aspiring rappers.  Although the hip–hop community wasn’t clamoring for a hip-hop take on James Joyce’s “Letter To A Young Poet” Sole delivers it with his trademark of wit & vitriol.  Throughout the course of the song everyone from Rob Bass, Goldman Sachs, Emma Goldman, Nirvana, The Game, white rappers, dictators and Hologram Tupac are evoked to paint a portrait of “banality gone wild.”   “Letter” hones in on the interests that control the music and manipulate artists, the artists that sacrifice content for image, and the spectacle that binds it all together.
