Who hasn't heard of the famous Route 66? This route is a myth itself and of course an icon of the United States. Americans call it "The MotherRoute" because it was the first paved federal highway in the country. It’s also called "The Main Street" because it was literally the Main Street in many of the tows it ran through.&nbsp; It was in 1926 when the government began building this national highway which passes through no less than eight states: Illinois,Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California.&nbsp; And do you know how many miles there are on this route? Bad luck, good luck...Superstition is something that people think can give good or bad luck. And all over the world, there are superstitious people. However, not everyone is superstitious, and some think it's silly. So they don't believe in anything. I'm gonna comment on some of the most common superstitions I know: -1) Finger crossing: If you cross your fingers, in theory, you avoid bad luck. For example: "I'm going to cross my fingers to win the lottery.” - 2) Touching or knocking on wood: This is also quite common. The expression "to touch wood" means that you don't want something bad to happen. For example. “My friend Laura can't find a job.” "Well, touch wood. Hi everyone! I’m your English teacher Georgiana, founder of speakenglishpodcast.com. My mission is to help you to speak English fluently. In this episode, I’ll talk about the Christmas holidays. And after that, you’ll practice your English speaking with an exciting mini-story about a man dressed in red. Ah! It's Christmas at last! I don't know about you, but I love this time of year. I start to think about what presents to give to my family and friends. Normally I make a list, so I don't forget anyone. Can you imagine forgetting someone? That would be terrible! That's why I start very early to plan what presents to give to everyone. Finding the right gift for someone can be difficult, so what I usually do is search online for gift ideas. And buying online helps me avoid the holiday crowds. To really feel the Christmas spirit, I like preparing a pot with a delightful scent using orange, cinnamon, apple cider, and clove. Well, we use this phrase when we start talking about the important aspects of something. We want to get to the point without wasting time. Now I'm really going to cut to the chase! There are different circumstances when you want to ask a girl out. If you want to ask a friend to go out with you, you’ll need to have a clear idea of where and when you want your date to be.
