Hicky & Kalo make a long awaited return to the label with the ‘Coming Back Home’ EP. ​

Bucking the trend of modern artists, Hicky & Kalo made their name for carving out a niche in the underground scene as resident DJs at the one of its kind Stereo Club in Montreal, as well as landing releases on some progressive house top labels such as Mango Alley, onedotsixtwo and Replug. And of course by spreading great music trough their own imprint, Plaisir Sonores.

The EP opens with ‘Coming Back Home’, where a dark groove emerges with spiky bass. Lightening the track, pretty arps dance playfully as heavily effected vocal ad libs add depth. One for the late floors waiting for the sun to make its first appearance of the day. 
‘From Sea to Sea’ continues the trend; deep satisfying low end grooves juxtaposed by breezy arps. A muscular, and ultimately danceable floor filler. 
Finally, the pair lay down some ‘Wisdom’(!), a lighter number with tons of character. Ethereal and uplifting, the groove is richly melodic and hypnotic from the off.

Artist:
Jean Peron is a French electronic music producer. In 2022, he started releasing music on international labels such as Sub Label Recordings. He initially created energizing house music tracks but is currently transitioning towards a more lo-fi house approach.

Influenced by artists such as DJ Poolboi, Jasper Tygner, and Jacana People, Jean Peron's music emanates its own emotional, vintage, and uplifting vibes. It is something to listen to, but more importantly, to deeply feel. It takes you to a chiaroscuro mood between a beautiful sunset beach and a gentle morning rain.

He is also involved as a music producer and lyricist in various projects that have been featured in several TV shows, including "Lucifer," "13 Reasons Why," "Emily in Paris," and « Riverdale."

In 2023, Jean Peron started to perform his electronic music on stage in his hometown Bordeaux during a sold-out gig.

Resilience' with its tightly programmed drums and warm but heavy kicks. There is a militant skip to the snares that has a great physical effect while gorgeous piano keys are draped over the top to bring introverted emotions. It's a powerful duality that is heightened by the arrival of a lush vocal and brighter synths that suggest there is hope ahead.

Scottish-born, Nila now calls Auckland in New Zealand home. A DJ first and foremost, his break into the scene came back in the 90s in his hometown of Edinburgh playing radio shows and club gigs across the country.

Now signed to a number of great labels including Sprout, Selador, Balance Music, UNIVACK, Late Night Music, Vapour, Re:Sound Music, Keep Thinking, Forensic Records, Limbo, Pro-B Tech Music, Pangea Recordings, Massive Harmony, ICONYC, BC2, his sound is finding an ever-larger fanbase. His productions have been played and supported by the likes of Hernan Cattaneo, Anthony Pappa and Gai Barone.

Nila brings a lifetime of passion to both his productions and performances. Renowned for his superb technical ability, music selection and programming, Nila always delivers memorable performances wherever he plays. His ability to subtlety blend emotive, melodic and atmospheric content with driving hypnotic rhythms, promises to take any listener through a beautiful journey of sound.

After moving to New Zealand in 2007 and an extended hiatus from playing, Nila returned to his musical roots in 2014, demonstrating what he’s famous for… his superb technical ability and delivering his own unique style of sexy, progressive and tech-tinged house.

Since then, Nila has been booked at a number of successful events based in and around Auckland including Shipwrecked, Soronous, Collude and Aum. He has supported the likes of John Digweed, Guy Manzar, Dave Seaman, Nick Warren, James Zabiela, Hernan Cattaneo and Eelke Kleijn.

His monthly friskyRadio show ‘S I M U L A T I O N’ which started in Oct 2018 has been well received and gaining popularity hitting the #1, #2 and several other top 10 positions in the friskyRadio Top 100 charts. With no sign of stopping, Nila is just hitting his stride so watch this space… because you’ll certainly be hearing a lot more from him in the very near future!
