Zoi (CA) was born in Karachi, Pakistan, and helped cultivate his local electronic music scene by creating safe spaces for Pakistani revelers to experience techno and house music. He eventually moved to Toronto, Canada, where he pursued technical training in sound while developing a knack for music production. As a producer, Zoi focuses on creating complex soundscapes and deep melodies; all characterized by ethereal twilight overtones. Equal parts musician and equal parts sound engineer, Zoi endeavors to capture ethereal and moody sounds that aim to embody the complexities of human experience.

When We Dip's Tales of Romance imprint is proud to present its first EP of the year, ‘Meet my Tempo' by Zoi. The outing is centred around groove and harmonic touch. Manu, Gullen and Madmotormiquel each give their take of the A-side.

Zoi, who has released with Kindisch, Traum and Dirtybird, originally hail from Pakistan and is an integral part of Toronto's scene as a programmer of club Subdivision.

The A-side, ‘Meet my Tempo' is a vibey affair marked by old-school house drums, an uplifting pad and diverse ear candies.

Inner Solstice showcases the same atmospheric feel, as the ever-evolving percussions and hats link the raw sub-bass, joyful pad and sparse lead melody.

Montréal's Manu delivers a throbbing remix which draws inspiration from his regular appearances in the city's institutions such as Stéréobar and Le Salon Daomé. The glitchy break gives a breather before leaving the colourful sub lead the ‘I just want to groove' ad-lib.

Gullen's remix of Meet my Tempo revolves around an inspiring rolling bass progression, stabs and a sharp clap. A tasteful offering from the Barcelona producer fresh off his second EP with Mobilee.

Madmotormiquel's remix rounds up the pack. Bouncy percussions, short stabs and drum rolls hit against the bassline and punchy kick.

Zoi (CA) - Inner Solstice [Tales of Romance]

For The People residents, Talal & Zoi, return to the Toronto-based label with a two track EP 'Deep Blues' featuring a remix from Jamie Kidd. The title track is a hybrid of a very deep and ethereal bassline paired with the bold use of hi-hats and percussions with ringing chimes coming in to build it up, continuing the movement throughout. The track titled 'Blue Dub' is the perfect accompaniment, showcasing a more minimal side of Talal & Zoi. The bassline stays at a consistent tempo while the hi's and drums put the track into motion. @jamie-kidd finishes the EP off with a remix of Blue Dubb, accentuating the drums and upping the BPM, fully incorporating his techno finesse.

T&Z - Blue Dub (Jamie Kidd Remix)

T&Z (Talal & Zoi) have been transforming their sound from ethereal and moody to melodic techno. The duo have consistently one-upped each other on the decks of Kater Blau (Berlin, DE), Keizerpark open air (Ghent, BE), Bushwick's Bogart House (Brooklyn, NY), and Electric Island (Toronto, CA). The cousins are equal parts musicians and equal parts sound engineers, originally throwing down in warehouses of Lahore, Pakistan. Currently the two are a household name repping Toronto, CA, with chart-topping releases and being featured on labels such as Dirtybird, Kindisch, Moodfamily, TRAUM, Rawthentic and For the People.
