With a slew of releases in the realm of dark and progressive club sounds, Trek EP captures the essence of this Corsica-based timeless post-disco maestro. Pasqua Pancrazi - Undertake

Over the past decade the French duo of Tepat Huleux and Giac Di Falco, aka You Man, have made a name for themselves on the underground disco scene with their stunning live shows, Huleux's hypnotic visuals created and releases on labels such as as Tronik Youth’s NEIN and Eskimo Recordings. Now a decade on the pair are revisiting their acclaimed debut EP, and its lead track Birdcage, inviting some of the many friends they've made over the years to help them celebrate. 

Originally released on the now defunct Alpage Records, Birdcage's chugging 109bpm beat and a melody that switches from throbbing minimalism to something that stands tantalisingly close to a full on Ibiza sunrise moment made it the kind of track that is never far from a discerning DJs record bag and perfect for reinterpretation. https://soundcloud.com/you_man

First up to rework the track is Mexican DJ/producer and co-owner of Duro Records, Theus Mago. Upping the tempo, Mago works Birdcage's familiar, pulsating bass line, twisting it into new acidic shapes, whilst the addition of menacing rave stabs adds a dark techno vibe to the track. A kaleidoscopic sonic riot, Belgium-Japanese duo Aili's debut album Nandakke? has proven to be one of 2024's breakout hits, its joyful collision of electro-pop, electronica, house music and so much more grabbing the attention of everyone from the Belgian national press to the likes of KCRW in the United States. Now, whilst the band get ready for a busy summer touring the album, Eskimo present the first club ready remixes, re-edits and reworks. 

First up is another Belgian newcomer GAIKO, who has been making a name for himself over the past year with his own rhythmically intricate, genre defying electronica. For his remix of Oyasumi, GAIKO has plated the track's rolling bass line and ecstatic breakbeats in a sheen of chrome adding hypnotic gqom influenced rhythms and staccato snares to produce an adrenaline fuelled remix that demands to soundtrack an ultra speed car chase through neon lit streets.

“Voodooridoo” is the debut EP of the collab between Radial Gaze and Pyrame. The result of what had to happen when the two friends finally met in person earlier this year.

Indeed, over a 2 months period, the two electronic musicians quickly hit the ground and regularly caught up at Thisbe Recordings´ HQ in Berlin-Mitte where ideas kept flowing and got recorded. They blent each other´s recipes to produce unpreceded music for both of them. Pyrame´s brain-sticking melodies and basslines as well as odd organic instrumentation found in his studio meet Radial Gaze´s punchy riffs on acid, signature tribal percussions, and brain-washing arpeggiated patterns.

Out of this time in the studio emerged three original tracks. First, “Outrageous” because this is how well the two got on with each other from the first day onwards. “Voodooridoo” came next and was so packed with ideas that the two fellows had to slim down their production at that time. Such a creative process was calling for a third tune, and that one morning when Pyrame came into the studio and shouted “Boa Boa” while Radial Gaze was already working on another acid trippy pattern paved the way for their third track. Their collaborative work and enthusiasm did the rest and their first collab EP was wrapped up.

Orchid joins the EP by remixing the title track into an uptempo rework of the original.

He sped down the freeway, the wild west on all four sides. The heat was blazing down upon no mans land from up above as he drove ever faster into the setting sun.

In the distance he could see the horizon, the end was in sight. Was he being entirely reasonable? Were his intentions pure?

Probably not. But as the car whizzed towards the cliff edge like some sort of extra from Thelma and Lousie, he cared little but for his decisions.

Touch Sensitive are set to release a record from Autumns, who once again channels leftfield experimentation into a bass tinged new album for the label.

The breeze blew against his face and rattled against his goggles as he flew prominently down the mountain face. The jump had been no easy feat and had left him shaken for many sleepless nights. Now, finally, he was flying amongst the birds and the clouds as the blue sky virtually blinded his line of sight. All else was forgotten and he felt more alive than ever before. 

This was what it was like to soar. 

Charlie Smooth kickstarts a new record label in the form of Smooth Operators as he delivers some gorgeous edits on a new EP. The release is forthcoming later this month.
