Infos : Andrea Tempo returns with an EP on the Taste Rec’ digital catalogue. Three tracks with clear sonic references to a diverse world: liquid sounds, fuzzy guitars and guys with ties and leather jackets. Cosmik Intro is a hymn to Psychedelic Kraut Rock from beyond the Alps, which leads to the roaring Killing Joke, a modern tribute to the London band with the same name. Vigorelli, a sweet psychedelic dream, is the last original take, followed up by a banging remix by DC Salas that closes the entire EP.

Swiss record label Blizzard Audio Club prepare to release the forthcoming album from long-standing label affiliate Pavel...Our pick from the album is 'I'm eclipsed, I'm elsewhere', an experimental piece of drone electronica enhanced by a nexus of chirping echoes, dismantled percussions and dewy-eyed piano chords. With humming chords taking over from the second half of the track, Pavel delves into a veiled moonscape filled with drone-infused oscillations and hair-rising chord progressions.

Dresden-based DJ and producer @AcidAdams collects four acid monsters, both from the glorious nineties and from a multi-layered present. The result is a record that dives deep into acid wonderland and bridges the gap between scene’s veterans and the new generation.

After Acid Adams discovered two forgotten acid tracks from the early nineties while digging for new music, the plan for this compilation slowly matured. While it was meant to be a tribute to every bird’s favorite genre, it shouldn’t be just a showcase for older tracks. Therefore, two new tracks were added to join the tracks by Nihilist and ADSX which have never been released on vinyl before. Each of the new productions is inspired by one of the older tracks, not in the sense of a remix or edit, but as a kind of homage to that particular squawking analog sound we all know and love. The energy and pace of these four unique tracks reaches from ambient to dance floor focused bangers.

According to the circumstances of scene and society at that time, the two older tracks were produced by (cis)men. That’s why, it was especially important to Acid Adams that the new tracks were produced by flinta* artists: softcoresoft is a DJ and producer from Canada, who has already released on Lobster Theremin. With Ida Bux, a native of Bautzen who now lives and works in Berlin, we connect the dots to a younger generation that is getting back into analog production setups. Both artists have in common that they have dealt extensively with the oldschool sound of the 90s in shaping their own sounds.

To round off the release properly, Saxony based illustrator frieedland has designed a matching sticker in the typical 90s style. And for those who can't get enough of acid: There's a digital bonus track by ADSX.

Excelsior Ruth is a composer, DJ and producer born in the North-East of England but who currently resides in South London.

On her eponymously titled debut, she combines a life-long love of euphoric trance with echoes of her live performances as exlRuth, which incorporate sound recordings, drone, traditional choral music and the makina backdrop of her youth.

Embedded in community heritage, it’s a record that probes connections between the classical and contemporary.

Gossamer harp drifts across time on ‘Haunt’, leading to the affecting arpeggios, strings and high BPMs of ‘Dream Of Night’, programmed, as much of the EP was, on classic 90s synthesisers, including the Roland JP8080 and Quasimidi Rave-0-Lution 309. Drinkwater’s ‘Dawn Return mix’ reduces ‘Dream Of Night’ down to a moment of 6am E-motion, limbs weaving through dry ice like mist on long-forgotten moors.

A cathedral of angelic voices swells in ‘Dream Of You’, their hymn to oceanic feeling rooted to earth by a raining cascade of kicks.

‘Sleepy Hollow’ journeys further into deep, unspeakable bodily knowing, pushed & pulled between propulsion and stasis as fizzy high hats and restless melodies weave through shrouds of ambient pads.

Taking a significant turn from her previous release, the new EP - Z i g Z o y d - greets you as a fierce and friendly audio beast. It’s an adventurous twist of IDM and groovy tribalism, which results in purely synthetic music suitable for more sophisticated dancefloors as well as pleasurable home listening.

“Nahum” is a banging opener, an intense yet extremely curious piece. Heavy kicks surrounded by percussive triplets allow you to braindance and massage your body with low frequencies. “Adroit Am I” is kind of a joyful ballad of those synthetic screeching voices, whose nature is still to be discovered by future generations of sonic explorers. “Trapezoid Conundrum” - the first single of the EP is a repetitive piece, like a trapezoidal machinery working its existence. “Bestia” is the most 4-to-the-floor oriented track. Filled with breathing synths and strong kicks, it (again) welcomes you to a peak time weirdo dancefloor. “Espionage” is probably the darkest piece of this 5-tracker. Screeching synths and a slow rhythm bid you farewell out of this sonic journey, leaving some kind of a hook inside.

That said, Z i g Z o y d is an exciting piece of contemporary electronic music.

Starting as a label that served basically as a platform for their friends’ music in 2010, Uncanny Valley evolved into a record label that assembles acclaimed artists from the electronic music scene not only from the label’s base in Dresden but also from Germany and beyond. With a strong emphasis on the records’ artwork the label heads Philipp Demankowski, Conrad Kaden, Carl-Johannes Schulze and Albrecht Wassersleben are constantly on a mission to establish and refine the artists from the roster as well as to search for new talents.
