Push It Away

The 3rd release from Glasgow band Silver Haar.

Penned during the first lockdown, “Lost” is an explosive, guitar driven anthem which nods it’s bunnet to band favourites Feeder and Interpol. Tackling the theme of our modern day political nightmare in which our leaders inspire racism and division, the lyrics are attempting to search for our place within it. Ultimately, “Lost” is a show of strength and recognition that, whilst we are caught in the middle, we can still make a difference...all set to a disco beat, so get on your dancing shoes!

Lost

Lights Out lays down the mission statement straight out the gate. The guitars shimmer plangently in the intro, only to be shot forward suddenly by the arrival of a driving rhythm section and a Robert Smith-esque lead guitar line that counterpoints beautifully with synthesised strings bearing a trace of The Queen Is Dead era Smiths. These “simple lines intertwining” (to quote Spinal Tap’s Nigel Tufnell) explode the whole thing into an epic widescreen Technicolor landscape, though probably that of a Douglas Sirk melodrama rather than a John Ford adventure picture. A strong vocal melody (supported by gorgeous harmonies) pushes us through into a chorus that contradictingly sounds celebratory despite the words we’re hearing - “Lights Out/We’ll never be free.” Are we entrapped by dead-end careers, a romance that’s long lost its spark, some other form of subjugation or all of the above? The lyrics are elliptical enough to deny a solid answer, but one thing’s for sure, whatever’s keeping us in chains is likely of our own making and it’s rarely sounded so joyous.

Lights Out

“It’s Over”, the 2nd single release from Glasgow rockers Silver Haar, has been co-produced by the wonderful Joe Adhemar and will make the
first track from the forthcoming debut album, set for release early in 2022. The song brings to mind the sparkle of The Cure (Disintegration era) and modern contemporaries such as Fatherson with shimmering guitars and somber yet anthemic vocal lines.
2021 has been an amazing first year for the band, starting with the release of their debut EP “Lights Out” in July which has been nominated for EP of the year by The Weekender Magazine.
Title track and debut single “Lights Out” featured on Deliberator Records’ “The Sound of Today” compilation CD and received a tonne of airplay including from Jim Gellatly on Amazing Radio, Zoe Macleod on Islington Radio alongside a host of local and national radio stations and podcasts.
Moving forward, the band are putting the finishing touches to their debut album, set to be released by Glasgow’s Deliberator Records. The band have also been an integral part of an incredible team of new artists creating the Mind Aid 2021 single coming out on December 8th - all proceeds going to Tiny Changes to support mental health.
WIth a host of explosive live shows starting in February, 2022 is set to be a big year for Silver Haar.

It’s Over (single version)

Following the release of our 2nd single, It’s Over, on December 20th we intend to keep the momentum going and now have a collaboration single which came out on 14th January called Mountains.

The instrumental was written by Joe Adhemar and we put our own melody and lyrics to it as a follow up to Its Over - carrying on the story of the doomed relationship.

Mountains and It’s Over are available on all major platforms but have also been released as a limited edition double A-side CD single by Glasgow’s Deliberator Records and feature 2 CD only bonus tracks. This is available to purchase from http://deliberatorrecords.bigcartel.com
