For thousands of years, alchemy was mainly concerned , in classical folklore, with two objectives. First, to change base metals, especially lead, into gold. Second, to discover an elixir of immortality or at least to live in the physical sense for many centuries. Over the many centuries there have been individuals who actually believed they could turn common metals into gold, but actually, they were very much mistaken. Iron pyrite is often found together with assorted sulfides or oxides in quartz veins, sedimentary rocks, metamorphic rocks, as well as in coal bed, and as a replacement mineral in certain fossils. If an alchemist was experimenting with boiling, heating, applying an acid solution over the rocks, quartz, coal, or fossil and happened to inadvertently free the iron pyrite; and the pyrite was not so noticeable to begin with, he could mistakenly think he caused gold particles to be created.

While this symbol can have different meanings in different fields, in the alchemical traditions of the Middle Ages it was used as a "time sign" to indicate a day. Combining the discipline's own symbols for day and night, this alchemical time sign represents a period of 24 hours.

In alchemy and early chemistry, regulus is the reduced or metallic mass obtained in the treatment of various ores, particularly those of the semi-metals; especially, metallic antimony (regulus antimonii): but various alloys of antimony, other brittle metals, and even the more perfect metals were also occasionally so called, to indicate that they were in the metallic condition.

"fleeting memories; feigning happiness" is a personal journey for me that follows, among other things, the course of a romantic relationship, the stages of grief that came with it, and my understanding of my eventual diagnosis of bipolar II disorder. I suppose I'll leave it at that.
