And if we are talking about the sci-fi themes: would you like a retrofuturist beat for your personal transformation? Route 8 is got you delivering 'Be Aware' to your ears, an hommage to DMX Krew & breakdance floors. 
'Closed For Subsidence' with its damaged melody and throbbing bassline evokes the loneliness and darkness we’ve all experienced at some time over the past year, but we feel that Jeigo dripped a little hope for us into the song as well. Wintertime in Vermont, sun is shining on icicles, silence reigns over the forests, these images come to our mind listening to Aspetuck's 'Winterruhe', a slowburner for all the wilderpeople out there. And finally we can say we have another Hungarian producer in the TIOT family. We are proud to present NetSymmetry to you, who is showing himself for the first time under this alias with an eight-minute hallucinatory vision called 'Gene Oscillations' which immediately melted, bubbled, boiled and filtered us into a petri dish. Now let's find a dance partner and hope we can meet this year!

The summer of 2020 was a memorable one, Duane Island - real name Dan Komanoff - was in Manhattan, back in his childhood bedroom. Days were long but he was mostly inside. The view from the room’s window was just another brick wall, although for a few moments a day, a bit of light would hit the portable studio where he would jam after work. His brother was around, too, so Dan enlisted him on keys. When their parents left for a weeklong vacation, the party began: they could jam louder and smoke inside.

Armed with a dropbox of disco breaks a friend had just ripped from his collection, Dan spent the week chopping 16 bar loops and writing bass lines under his brother's airy pad progressions. Italo gems dug from the annals of discogs had been the soundtrack of Dan's year so far, and the brothers used these sounds to transport themselves to that otherworldly lakeside scene that, save a few mixes and grainy photos, might never have existed at all. After a few hours of writing, Dan and his brother would take their jams to the roof to test them out in the open air and smoke some more. New ideas would float toward them from the other side of lower Manhattan, where the sun had just set, and they’d head back inside.

The result of these sessions is Solar Effect, three enormous and heartfelt club excursions. The title track, “Solar Effect”, twists in on itself like a trip peaking at noon, pairing squelching FM synth lines with airy piano chords to get hands in the air, feet off the ground, and heads in the clouds.

Always open to experimentation, Welsh imprint Haŵs welcomes Wyatt to the family. Comprising five evocative, glossy cuts, the ‘Netherwood’ EP is a time capsule back to his hometown, turning memories into alchemical moments experienced under a blazing sun or by the light of a full moon.

The opening ‘Sewell’ sails through a sensory voyage of stripped-back breakbeat, travel intercom samples and earworm melodies. ‘Netherwood’ snakes into a trippy pace, carving an indefinable sculpture of synth melodies nestled between weightless ambient.

On the B-side, ‘Mousehold’ launches into a peak-time club number, its initial drive of drums and bass tempered down by emotive accents that feel like a coy dance between yin and yang. ‘Tombland’ slinks into a shadow-cast realm of melancholy and introspection, joining the hands of broken beat and synth lines into a melodic collaboration drunk on its private thoughts. To close, ‘Heathgate’ retreats into a hopeful murmur, reflecting its quiet, percussive optimism back at itself through tear-stained melodies and a glassy bass.

Sometimes, existential introspection happens through external movement. ‘Netherwood’ is a catalyst for those epiphanies.

Times are unprecedented. We all have a basic understanding of the history of our planet, but now we are truly living in one of the darkest periods wherein we cannot see a clear path out. As an individual it often seems dishearteningly difficult to help aid in humanitarian efforts, but as we stand with Ukraine and understand the importance of assisting them in any way possible, we've decided to do our part by putting together a digital compilation entitled ‘Club Unity’.

It contains a diverse feast of artists that inspire us, and tracks that make you feel. Signature Haŵs vibrations touching on prog, trance and even reaching the realms of the jungle. But most importantly, all proceeds will go to the incredible platform 'WithUkraine', which consolidates international efforts in raising funds to provide humanitarian support to Ukraine and its people. 

As humans and music obsessives we stand in solidarity with life and not with those who are determined to irreparably damage the fragile fabric of humanity.

A Fresh transmission from Perth producer Guy Contact has arrived! After his debut outing on Bitterfeld in 2017 we were hooked and chasing more. His follow up 'Liminal Space' satisfies cravings and exceeds expectations.

The crisp five-tracker is rich with plasmic deep house, pounding bass and brain-tingling electronics. The title track is a writhing techno-house mutant, brimming with warped, space age textures and a striking beat. On "Holding Bay" and "Kawai K4 " Guy puts the brakes on and enters a deeper terrain. Extraterrestrial acid licks and murky drums a-plenty with the latter giving a proper nod to new-age music. On the flip, "Phase Value" dumps the clutch and gets things going again with it's spiralling synths, synthesised kicks and classy chords paying tribute to 90's trance moods. Hypno-house bomb "Void If Removed" rounds out the EP with euphoric pads and a solid, crunchy groove underwritten by a stomping kick drum.
