On this occasion Soos and NetterSystem deliver us a five song EP full of mist and 90s vibes. From the beginning this work takes us back to a party set decades ago in which breakbeat, techno and the jungle converge generating a series of sensations that are extrapolated. Digital and analog elements are mixed in the same timeline that in the end they reach the same conclusion: move the body.

As the tracks progress, the haze and white noise fill the imaginary space of our mind. Elements of bands like Spiritualized and many vocal samples fill the atmosphere throughout the tracks creating a well-being and at the same time an explosion of energy that causes you to move your body.
On the other hand, it is worth noting the maturity and the way in which sounds are handled in this work. In some parts it feels like being in the lobby of a European hotel: melancholic sounds that take time to mature in a very short amount of time. It's super enriching to hear layers and layers of sound that fall perfectly into place. In some parts the same melancholy takes us back to that time when the city of Leeds and Nightmares on Wax dominated the slopes. On the other hand, Latin America feels very present in the core of this EP.
Without a doubt, a work full of surprises and sounds that are not easily found.

Today felt like the first time he could see clearly; as if every day that had come before it he'd been living with his eyes shut. There was no telling what had been the catalyst, it seemed to happen almost instantly. Before, the most joyous and exhilarating experiences never moved him, he's always found ways to pick holes in everything. But now he found beauty in the most mundane things, in seemingly boring situations and dull encounters - after all this time his life could start, the idea that it was all a mirage was finally over. 

Semi Delicious boss Demi Riquísimo shared the first volume in his Reconfigured series two years ago - a remix project that invites friends of the label to put their own stamp on tracks from the back catalogue. This time round a fresh batch of artists breathe life into their label favourites, namely Viscera alumni Manami, Holding Hands producer Gallegos, WHP resident Gina Breeze and Tech Support under his Asa Tate alias. There's something for all dance music lovers, from hypnotic techno and vintage percussive house to tropical-tinged chug and pacy Balearic prog.

Skins continues forging his own path with a new label celebrating the uplifting and futuristic sounds of jungle, with a four-tracker featuring tracks with early support from DJs at the leading edge of the new wave of jungle such as Tañ, Mixtress and Frazer Ray through to revered names like Paul Rhodes of 2 Bad Mice.

Whilst some will know Skins from his run of self-released white label techno EPs or 2021’s underground hit 24 Hour Dub, more recently he has turned his attention back to the music which made him fall in love with it all in the first place:

“I vividly remember the effect that the futuristic sounds of 90s jungle and drum ‘n’ bass had on me as a kid, hearing snippets of tracks in video games and later stumbling across artists like Alaska, Future Engineers, Seba, Peshay and LTJ Bukem. After years engrossing myself in the cavernous spaces of dub techno, this record feels like a return to my roots, bringing my style into a new arena which still feels like home. The label will serve as an outlet for this and future collaborations with like-minded producers.”

Route R is the second track from the forthcoming inaugural release on Skins’ new project Sauce Direct Records. The label is set to draw from the sounds and energy of classic jungle, with an emphasis on colour, excitement and most importantly, fun.

The track opens with a pulsing, sparse and echo-laden drum pattern, which slowly fills out and is joined by an arpeggiated synth line pulling us along to the breakbeat section. From here we travel deeper, driven forwards by a powerful undulating bassline, until we are greeted by uplifting pads and layers of rich, emotionally charged harmonies.

After a brief moment lost in space, we are plunged back into the bass and breakbeat groove for a few more minutes of heads-down action, before a familiar synthesiser line brings us back home, from which we set off, but somehow different…

He gripped both edges on the chair as the dentist slowly reclined him until he lay horizontal, the blinding ceiling lights attacked his eyes. “OPEN WIDE!” The dentist bellowed, picking up a large pair of sparkling pliers. He opened his mouth.“WIDER.” He opened his mouth wider. “WIDER!” The dentist grinned and put on her surgical mask. 

Pinning her combat boot on his chest, she took the pair of pliers and slotted them over his upper left molar. “3...” The dentist squeezed the pliers together. “2...” She pressed her foot down harder onto his chest. “1...” She ripped the molar from his mouth, raising it into the air like a trophy. 

Combining the addictive sounds of garage, breakbeat and broken rhythms, Manchester-based Dansu Discs bring you their second release of the year, and the second artist EP on the label from Yosh. Titled Erosion, the A-side blends wavering breaks and deadly subs, showing us a playful new side of the Timeisnow affiliate’s productions, while the B-side harnesses his well loved swung beats, lively stabs and compelling bass lines.

No Sir joins the Faux Poly family with their new EP ‘Voyeur’, a release full of rich syncopated percussion and expressive soundscapes that document the artists’ evolving perspective on club spaces and home listening.

The record leans towards sub heavy broken beats, resulting in a confident contribution to the flourishing NYC Bass scene. Despite being based in Brooklyn, No Sir has already broken ground in Europe with singles on 3024 & W133.

“I started producing this EP at a really challenging moment last summer after I got a concussion that left me pretty much bed bound for a month. During this time I also quit drinking, so my relationship to music and going to clubs saw a complete overhaul. This EP is my attempt to find a space in between the hours spent at my quiet apartment and my return to these loud, dark spaces I see as another kind of home. The title track, Voyeur, was the first piece of music I made after the injury” - No Sir
