Solid Steel (13th October) In Hour 1 we welcome Norwegian producer Henning Severud, known as Telephones, who has released on Full Pupp, Sex Tags UFO, Love on the Rocks and Running Back, which saw his first solo album 'Vibe Telemetry' come out in 2016. There's plenty of projects in the pipeline and remixes due for Chmmr, Seb Wildblood and Phil Stroud, and you can catch him playing in Europe in November, before heading onto Asia and a tour of Australia. He told us;
"I`ve listened to Solid Steel-shows since the early 2000s,  so it`s an honor for me to do this mix. In that respect I`ve done things fairly eclectic, though in check with what I`m into on a contemporary level. So, it`s kind of a journey through some of the things I like. Old favourites and new things I've been playing a lot lately, recorded on two Technics 1200s, a Pioneer DJM300 mixer and a burrowed CDJ. The mix was recorded live in three parts as I had some problems finding the time. In the end I've done some effect-overdubs and edited down a few of the tracks in Ableton. "

What Fresh Hell is This? is an (almost) entirely instrumental track that shows the looser, improvisatory side of the band. voice (in this case used as percussion, dare I say beat box), harmonica and claps intertwine with drum machine, drum kit and synths. Synthetic sounds mix with acoustic then dissipate in echo. Its a good representation of the playfulness of our recording process. You can definitely hear the influence of dub within the mix but exactly what this music is, is up to you.  - Oliver Pitt

Taken from 'Delete Beach', Mica Levi’s original soundtrack to an animé by acclaimed artist and Turner prize nominee Phil Collins, released on Demdike Stare’s DDS label. 

Following on from the maverick pop auteur and film composer’s European Film Award-winning score to 'Under The Skin', and her 'Jackie' soundtrack, this is Mica’s first musical accompaniment for animation, by revered designer Marisuke Eguchi, animated by STUDIO4ºC.
