On August 18, we'll be hosting an event in London — headlined by two DJing greats in Kerri Chandler and Jeremy Underground. Mobile phones away, brains in dance mode, and a rare opportunity to be 100% in the moment. 

In the run-up, house music chieftain, Kerri Chandler, stripped away the digital gear to take a one-off dip into the world of classical music. Alongside Troy Denari, Kerri's reworked his classic track “The Way It Goes - (Track 1)” conducting a live orchestra to recreate the well-known classic.

Andrew Morrison, aka The Cyclist, knows no bounds to his production. In search of a term to encompass his varying releases such as “Vibradreams” and “Basslines for Life” on labels like 100% Silk, he has settled on the self-described genre “Tape Throb.” He describes his distinctive style as “an attempt to get to a time in electronic music, where everything sounds warmer, like with the more techno-ey tunes.” The journey for such sounds has marked his rise, with four full length albums under his belt and his latest EP showing no signs of slowing down.

The title track from his upcoming Pressing Matters EP is a genre-bending release. With flexible bass, wavy synths, and energetic breaks, it harkens back to the golden age of breakbeat. A unique sound, it is a nostalgic yet refined excursion into the sounds of DJs past.

Pressing Matters, the EP, is out on September 2nd via Hypercolour.

An eclectic artist who makes groovy house tracks one second and fierce electro-infused breaks the other, Dan Only is an artist who's always kept us on our toes. Fresh off the back of the of his similarly multi-faceted 'Fragments' EP on Dirt Crew Recordings, we've had a chat with Danny about his musical past, future and everything in between.

"Broke Open" is the first offering from Taysha.

Taysha is a compilation of "ambient" works produced exclusively by Texas based artists - out on January 14th.

Botany is North Texas raised, Austin based, Spencer Stephenson, who has been releasing with Western Vinyl since 2010. 

"With only a handful of releases to his credit, Texas native Spencer Stephenson has covered a vast, impressive array of musical ground with his work as Botany. Integrating live instrumentation and dusty samples, his compositional techniques are informed by hip-hop and beat-heavy electronic music, but they reference spiritual jazz, psychedelic folk, ambient, and numerous other styles. His work varies from more rhythmic, pulsating tracks to free-flowing washes of sound, but it’s always conscious, uplifting, and organic. Originally from northern Texas, Stephenson started experimenting with music production as a teenager, inspired by Four Tet, Madlib, J Dilla, and others. He began sharing his music online in 2008, and his first EP, Feeling Today, was released by Austin-based Western Vinyl in 2010. A bit more poppy than some of his later releases, the recording featured vocalist Ashley Rathburn. Botany remixed artists such as Ryat and Cuushe and produced a track on Lushlife’s 2012 album, Plateau Vision. After relocating to a farm outside Austin, Stephenson recorded his full-length debut, Lava Diviner (Truestory), which appeared in 2013. Dimming Awe, the Light Is Raw, the most hip-hop-oriented Botany release to date, appeared in 2015 as a limited LP; guests included rapper Milo and Leaving Records founder Matthewdavid. In 2016, Botany released Deepak Verbera, a surprising excursion into cosmic music and free jazz, channeling artists such as Alice Coltrane and Popol Vuh. Just three months later, Stephenson issued a batch of instrumentals titled Raw Light II, and in 2018, released a collaborative album with Philadelphia rapper Lushlife under the name The Skull Eclipses that included guest features from Open Mike Eagle, as well as members of Shabazz Palaces, and Dirty Projectors. The duo performed at the legendary weekly showcase in LA, Low End Theory, before the event was discontinued last August."
