I decided to use nylon strings on the two electric acoustic guitars I own. One day, after purchasing it online and overcoming some challenges, I dozed off for a while. Then I suddenly got up and started playing the blues, intending to tune it. I thought it wasn't that bad, so I just recorded it using a microphone. Since it's an electric acoustic guitar, it has a pickup, but I decided not to use it this time. The decision was made that it might be better to record with a microphone to take advantage of the tones of the nylon strings.

The Conqueror Worm

Grey on Grey is the only song in our entire catalogue which was entirely written by Mark, lyrics and lyric melody included. We first performed and recorded this song acoustically with our live band back when Watchglass first began. I cannot help but remember, as an incy wincy thorn in my side, that our bass player, Chris, happened to comment very enthusiastically on the lyrics…, just something like “excellent lyrics,” but as I was the lyricist for the band and he’d never made such a comment on any of my songs, AND because Mark professed himself not to be a lyrics writer (or singer, which he can also do quite beautifully), well it almost felt unfair… almost. I was far too enamoured with the whole new vista of singing songs and writing songs to be put off by lack of a compliment. I just noted it to myself and thanked heavens I was at least able to sing the song and that I was evidently working with an all round song genius (albeit overly humble about some of his skills). This single is a new take on Mark’s masterpiece, Grey on Grey (aka Blind Princess).

Clementine Moss’ new album showcasing her songwriting and singing skills is the 7-song pop/folk release NOTHING WILL KEEP US APART. This is the first single released, “Your Love,” on December 10, 2024.

“Most of my songs are about love, both to the other and the divine. Where do we find light when so much feels dark? It’s only in love that we find freedom, difficult as it can be to hold fast to that truth. Addressing that difficulty is a favorite theme in this album.”

Written with producer/bassist Robert Preston and keyboardist William Cameron, the song echoes artists like Tom Waits, St. Vincent and Norah Jones.

Hey I'm Ivy <3 My mom taught me how to play guitar when I was young. I grew up singing and playing with her, my grandfather, and cousins in Tennessee. Later I started learning how to produce music when I was 20 years old after getting a job at a local Guitar Center. I bought my first interface and the rest was history! I fell in love with all things audio/music production and decided to pursue a degree in Audio Engineering. At 29, I still find myself producing and engineering music to sort out my thoughts and feelings. I like to say that my heart is my "genre". My main influences are a melting pot of Electronic/Dance music, Folk, Soul, Hip-Hop, Country, Pop, and Rock and Roll. Music has always been a safe haven for me, whether I am making some or listening to it. I hope my art and music finds a way to bring comfort needed to the listener.
