Brett return with news of their sophomore album, Mode. Across the record's 10 tracks, Brett's songwriting magic is undeniable. Pop jams come to life in 3D, swirling the senses and putting the mind into motion.

Unlike previous material, Mode inspirations are diverse, owing more to multimedia art than romance, namely Jean-Luc Godard’s recent film, Goodbye to Language. “The defining quote for me was: ‘For women, it's only sex and death. For men, it's only infinity and zeroes,’” said vocalist Mick Coogan. “It’s a fairly opaque statement, but I think the irony lies in assigning absolutes to human relationships, which can be so beautiful and inspiring. At the same time, the fundamental differences between men and women are very real and that shit is difficult to figure out.” In a more abstract way, the light installations of James Turrell also influenced the musical contours of the album.

The album’s art was created as a large-scale painting by LA artist, Charley Alexander, using abstracted patterns, shapes and color scales, and then cut into 50 squares, each of which will be sold with limited edition pre-order copies of the vinyl record.

"If Only Chords" is the first single taken from upcoming Morly EP, Something More Holy. Due out April 8. Something More Holy is part of a limited edition 12" that also features Morly's debut EP, In Defense Of My Muse.   

Known for her minimalist and mostly instrumental approach to creating music, Something More Holy sees Morly build on her signature sense of spaciousness to more prominently feature vocals and pop-driven elements. The material was produced in collaboration with Stint.
