I play a single Theremin track on top of Shanti's hypnotic synth layer

Queen Beetle

For this recording, Shanti listened to an AI 'podcast' interpretation of a theoretical scientific paper I published on desert tortoise speciation. He was inspired to write the underlying synth track with 'nature' sounds and a sample from the AI interpretation. I layered an additional 8 tracks from my theremini to create a piece that reflects an ecosystem with all its species adapting and evolving.

Adaptation

Few artists move a dancefloor—or fly the flag for Argentina—like Hernán Cattáneo. After compiling three Balance Series comps, running a legendary label in Sudbeat, and decades of unforgettable sets— his journey is the story of progressive house in motion.

12 Theory is an American artist and DJ who specializes in Progressive House, Progressive Breaks, Deep Techno, Organic House, Ambient and various Electronica.  Based in Tucson, Arizona, he currently hosts his weekly mix show, “Beyond the Groove” on 99.1 FM KTDT Downtown Radio, which showcases live mixes of progressive electronic music from all over the world.

As a DJ, 12 Theory’s strengths of unique track selection, strong programming, and musical storytelling make for flowing, emotionally-charged sets that also translate well to the dancefloor.  His original music aims to connect to the listener by way of thought-provoking melodies, complex textures, and intricate rhythms.
