Smiling Tears

Over the years I have recorded many demo's in very many styles; all made at home with my computer and most of them sung with my horrible voice...  Still I'd like to share some with you. They were made during the periods when some style was hot and I got quite inspired. But I also have been listening to a lot of French music as you will notice. Most tunes have never been released and if you feel like recording one or using it in your repertoire please feel free; just let me know. And one more thing: all songs are copyright protected.

This tune was actually written for Ilse DeLange but I think it wasn't country enough. I love it; especially the way Paulien van Schaik sings it.

Long Ago - (Paulien)

During quite some time I rented a room in Antwerp, Belgium where I installed a small studio to compose and record in. Every morning, in the summer that is, sparkles of sunlight woke me up...

This is a very old demo of mine with a long story. The singer, Isabelle Graff, was my girlfriend and the tune was actually an instrumental one. She secretly took it with her into the studio, made some lyrics, a very nice choir arrangement and gave it back to me as a present. Still love her a lot, and not only for this tune.
It was made with an Atari (Notator), a Fender Rhodes, a TR 808 and a MT32....

Originally written for a band with trombone player Bart van Lier. 

Left Or Right

Written for the son of drummer Gerhard Jeltes; quite some time ago. It has been recorded on the first Batida record but I added some parts to it.
