My father

Totally alone on the black sands of Vik early one morning in April 2016. It's certainly not a sea you would want to go swimming in, as the corpses of numerous dead fish on the beach warn, but the thunderous sounds of the North Atlantic waves crashing on the beach have an almost hypnotic effect that draws you closer. I placed my Sony PCM-M10 recorder on one of the basalt columns, and left it there for a few minutes.

Many species of Amphibian call in this recording.
Frogs identified visually at the time were: Harlequin tree frog (Rhacophorus pardalis), Dark-eared Tree Frog (Polypedates marcrotis), File-eared Tree Frog (Polypedates otilophus), Wallace's Flying Frog (Rhacophorus nigropalmatus) Green Paddy Frog (Hyarana erythaea) There are more frogs to be heard high up in the trees and in the leaf litter and a Sunda Scops owl(Otus lempiji).

My thanks goes to Tim Myers who accompanied me on this part the trip.
