Amiby breaks down sounds into their most granular forms and reshaping them into something both visceral and visionary. The deluxe follow-up to his debut EP, Jamais Satisfait, is more than a collection of tracks; it’s a manifesto on embracing imperfection and finding beauty in the disarray.

Rooted in internet culture and inspired by boundary-pushers like Flume, Iglooghost, and Blank Banshee, Amiby crafts music that feels like it’s in constant motion. On this album, he revisits his first EP through a fractured lens, bringing in collaborators whose fingerprints add even more texture to an already kaleidoscopic sound. What emerges is a project that thrives on tension—between control and chaos, between refinement and rawness.

Tracks built in Ableton blur the lines between technical precision and unfiltered experimentation. Granular synthesis tools like Quanta and Granulator collide with sound morphing techniques, creating moments that feel like they could disintegrate at any second. Yet, it’s this precarious balance that gives the album its vitality, making every glitch and every shimmer feel deliberate.

The visual world of the project mirrors its sonic ethos. Amiby, alongside his manager Ariane, reimagines the artwork of his original EP, using generative tools like MidJourney to produce a piece that feels as alive as the music it represents. The new cover, with its disjointed layers of floral and electronic elements, bridges beauty and disorder, capturing the album’s restless spirit.

Thematically, Jamais Satisfait Deluxe explores dissatisfaction and imperfection as creative forces. Amiby wrestles with the gap between what we envision and what we achieve, ultimately celebrating the messy, unpredictable process of making art. It’s not about reaching the destination—it’s about embracing the stumbles, detours, and moments of unexpected clarity along the way.

As the final chapter of this era, Jamais Satisfait Deluxe closes the loop on Amiby’s debut while pointing toward uncharted horizons. It’s a daring and deeply personal record, a sonic landscape where imperfections shine.

Haven are kicking off 2020 with a boom with a new EP of politically pessimistic dance-floor-ready weapons from label boss Keepsakes. Following on from his exploration of chunky slow rippers on 2019’s ‘Modern Anxious Vernacular’, this next edition in the Haven mastermind’s discography puts greater emphasis on rhythmic groove for the dancers among us.

The record starts with ‘And So The Feckless Fall’ on the A1, featuring shuffling drum rhythms and ethereal vocal work, descending in to a menacing, swung synth-line for maximum club effect. This is followed by ‘Blue Boy Fucks It All’ on the A2. Reminiscent of the slo-mo bangers of Keepsakes’ last EP, this crawler of a track is initially propelled by its moody synth melody and booming drums, with a mid-track switch up putting melancholic pad chords front-and-centre. The flip side begins with ‘Ignorant Irony’ - a certified floor smasher prioritising groove with it’s swinging drum rhythms, cheeky vocal samples and sinister synth sounds. The record ends with a remix of the B1 from UVB - who reimagines the track in to a sneering, ominous slammer, with brutal yet groovy drum work and sampling closing the EP with another no-nonsense banger.
