The Dying Miss Saeki (Den döende fröken Saeki) is the fourth and last movement in From the Bottom of a Well (Från botten av en brunn) based on Haruki Murakami's novel Kafka on the Shore. The the sounds were designed from, and the music was written from a grounded theory analysis of the book. The piece was performed and recorded on the 16th of December 2021 by Robert Ek, clarinet; Kevin Kirs Verstege, cello; and Rikard Vilhelm Lindell, eurorack at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. Expansive, immersive, epic dark ambient drone journey (with occasional hints of relevant noise, experiments and twists as always, hopefully at all the right moments for those now listening).

Exploring the themes of 'Mother Nature' as a living breathing entity, the intriguing forests of the world, and how we should make more of an effort, small and daily, large and for our lifetimes, to take care of the very things that give us our existence.

Made between December 16th and May 3rd 2022, using piano, voice, bass, drums, several field recordings in Orlová Cz, no 'Paulstretch' and lots of manipulations and layering.

I hope you will step away from reality for an hour and let my sounds and nature guide your brain and feelings. I promise it is a warming, fulfilling trip once you are inside.

This track was created from an improvisation I did with my newly created contact microphone noise box. The sounds were then processed into a sound collage. I also used metal found sounds, electronics and a Buchla synthesizer

The whole package of samples is arranged in random order several times.

Each track has a chain of effects that works in real time. 

Random S&H velocity and depth parameters are assigned to the parameters of the five LFOs.

They control the parameters of the effects, as well as the increasing volume.
In parallel, a chain of granulator and reverb effects works, into which bursts of sound fragments fall and, based on the incoming sound fragment, it is excited by feedbacks going against the background.
