Hell Yeah's debut Buena Onda compilation proved hugely successful. It alskept people drenched in exotic dance floor sounds while the pandemic has kept everyone apart. Now the Berlin-based party is back and on a mission to redefine what Balearic means with a first-ever vinyl-only sampler featuring exclusive, unreleased tunes and remixes compiled by Marco Gallerani and Gallo from brothers around the world.

The a-side is all about new kids on the block: Australian cyborg disco don Kayroy appeared on the label in 2020 with his Imaginary Expeditions EP and now links with his friend Jaspar Robinson, a dreamer with his head amongst the stars. He provides the vocals which speak of an astronaut lost in space and aching for a missing loved one while sombre chords and downbeat bass make for a beautifully longing groove. It's a blue-eyed Balearic classic.
 
The up-and-coming Italian @Feel-Fly of labels like Internasjonal then goes widescreen with his 'Esperanto'. The chords shimmer, the baseline percolates and the guitar riffs arc up to the heavens for some late-night intergalactic bliss.

The flip side features more mature and established artists: label regular Max Essa offers a remix of The Vendetta Suite 'Neon Secrets,' which has naive Eastern melodies and rueful 80s chords with a subtle new age feel that dumps you right on the beach at sundown.

Last of all come Chris Coco and Micko Roche with true-school Balearic classic complete with cicada-like shakers, mellifluous Spanish guitar licks, flutes and soft, frothy, rolling beats that break like waves on a sun-kissed Mediterranean coastline.

Buena Onda - Balearic Beats 2021 Sampler 1 offers something for every hour of the day, making this a perfectly functional 12" for the modern Balearic DJ.

PREMIERE: Feel Fly - Esperanto

Hot on the heels of Third Attempt's album "Beats From The Quarantine" released back in April, here comes the associated remix package, featuring names old and new to the Beatservice catalogue.

"Front To The Back" is re-engineered to meet its full-blown floor potential. Third Attempt tweaks his own composition into a proper old-school jacking tribal joint that moves from pared-down breaks hoodoo to abstract, hip-hop-informed house in a flash.

"Addicted" gets the remix treatment from Oslo shock squad Kim Young Ill and Duv Tales, here found busy morphing the original into a hazy collage of sliced vox samples, liquid bass spurts on a 90s tip and further genre-unbound hypnotic abstraction to whelm your body and soul in with satisfying punch.

Also hailing from the Norwegian capitol, Henrik Villard provides us with a post-shower, sun-dazed revamp of "Rain". Heaving up the groove to soul-liberating spheres of consciousness, the Oslo-based operator lets the vibes pour throughout, be it in the solar-powered motion of its train-like swagger or in the smooth demeanour of its washed-out pads scudding by.

Tromsø's Keecen, previously known as LP Martin, adds his subtle yet sensual spin on Third Attempt "Make It Double" for a pure moment of nostalgic jazz-house bliss. Collating woozy vocal samples out barren urban scapes at night, evanescent melancholy-soaked piano chords and a forward-moving coastal swing.

The young, full-of-promises producer Niikas, under the Reidar Bruun alias, takes "Images" for a bumpy ride in the Northern Lights wild. Driven by a sturdy bass and playfully pogo-ing machine talk, the track pretty much feels like an endless glide across neon-splattered cascades of synth arpeggios and FX-doused alien signals.

Adding his smooth and playful zest to "Mirage", deft-handed sound illusionist Ribbish makes the cut with a wonky acid chugger that doesn't quite pick its poison between eastern-laced spaciousness, 303-emulated squelch and further ankle-twisting moves straight out the 90s continuum.

Uruguay-born, Australia-based up-and-comer Jose turns in a smoothly revamped version of "Cocoon", tweaking the original into a proper ethereal deep-dive, gussied up with a lush mix of jazz brass, old-school breaks and further swelling waves of aqueous, bassy dynamism. All topped with a healthy coating of chimey shimmer that'll have you floating in a bubble of velveteen rapture.

Oslo-based Bulgarian producer Ivaylo - the man behind Bogota Records, Oslo's Jaeger club booking head and label manager of Prins Thomas’'various outlets - punches in with a drums-laden "dypmiks" version of "Images", steering us into a swarming, busily fun and hectic hive. As frantic percussions whip and jack wildly, lucent piano stabs bring along the melodic component whilst the squelchy acid bass keeps the groove frothing.

Another exponent of Tromsø's evergreen scene, newcomer Anders Jakobsen tackles "Missing Feeling" with a twist of feels-riddled deepness and self-revealing spaciousness. Oneiric to the bone and primed for extended audio meditation, this one will have you casting off to quiet, uncluttered dreamscapes without further ado.

Your Planet Is Next is the nom de guerre of one Arvid Wretman – multidisciplinary artist, live performer and noise maker from Stockholm, Sweden. Since his 2014 debut cassette under the YPIN alias, through two floor-optimised solo EPs for Studio Barnhus, this self-proclaimed “Mr. Music” has terrorised us with the most gloriously disturbed electronic funk, all while cultivating his puzzling YPIN persona: part failed pop-star, part extraterrestrial threat. On his first full-length release for Studio Barnhus, emotions range from acidic romance to pure paranoia. Rave, screw, electro and chill vibes are all combined on an album that plays like an exhilarating journey through the mind of a mad genius.

Berlin based Arttu has been dropping his dusty fat beats across numerous techno labels including Philpot, Clone and 4Lux for a few years but it was 2016’s track ‘Hoodies’ on Arttu’s own imprint Cyblo that caught the attention of Accidental label boss Matthew Herbert (and which remains firmly in Herbert’s record bag). Arttu was invited onto the Accidental Jnr roster and has delivered a chunk of techno with so much swing it made Donkey Kong blush.

Arttu takes the most simple of jazz bass hooks and loops across a rigid kick, it’s when those hats kick in that the groove goes fucking wild. The presence of US native Roberto Q Ingram on vocals brings a full Detroit gangster flavour to the party. Initially Arttu and Roberto had an idea to record a simple and sweaty track with Roberto on the mic and Arttu at the control of some dusty old machines. The result, ‘Bass Trakk’ is exactly that: Roberto dropping lyrics over a raw beat and a massive bassline. The EP is rounded off with a deep bit of techno ‘Debris’ with all the trappings of the darkest hour of a Berlin winter in which it was recorded.

R&S founder Renaat Vandepapeliere launches a new series RV Trax, to reflect the sound of his DJ sets and to give a platform to artists not based on social media likes or online hype.

Re-invigorated and inspired by contemporary dance floor sounds, after 30+ years as the label owner and figurehead Renaat succumbed to the temptation to finally, at the tender age of 60, try his own hand at rocking the crowd.

Renaat's sets have seen him assemble a treasure trove of unreleased music that will now find a very personal home on RV Trax. Emblazoned with the Belgian national colours of black, yellow and red these tracks proudly flaunt their 'floor-filling dynamics.

The first, a dance floor stormer from Steve Legget, remixing fellow North Easterner Bird Of Paradise’s original - a tight punchy workout that pairs distorted 909 kicks against a high tension string part and melancholic synth pads. G-Prod (AKA French brothers David and Nicolas Gaugain) provide a balmy, motor-city style number - shuffling drums underpin sunrise synth washes and euphoric melodies. Buenos Ayres' Hermetics provide a frostier mood with ‘Collider’ - chilly FM bells pinned against serrated percussion and swirling distortion
