TECHNO 30 minutes+ MIXES-VARIOUS ARTISTS

The source of this 56 minute excerpt is the recording of my last extended dj set. It was performed on June 23 2023 at Badaboum in Paris. 

The show at Badaboum marked the end of a long series of all-night long sets which I have been performing over many years. As I have focused all my attention on playing live I consider this event and its recording as the last statement in my dj life. A closing chapter, so to speak.

As this set was my last extended dj set it features a mix of new material and personal favourites which I have enjoyed playing over the past years. This set was a long, intense ride into my music collection. I was fortunate enough to have a supportive crowd which was up for joining me for seven hours straight. It was a fitting way to close off a big part of my musical life. I would like to thank everyone who has come out to hear me dj in the last twenty years or more - your presence and support remains essential. In the future I hope to see you at one of my upcoming live shows. The journey of expression continues, taking a different shape, searching for new forms.

A true legend and pioneering figure of techno, US sound architect and Geophone label owner Mike Parker breaks in on the RYC waves with a very special set full with his idiosyncratically dark, obsessive, inch-perfectly chiselled 4x4 wares. Before Boiler Room and co. were even a thing, a pioneering platform going by the name of Studio R° used to broadcast techno sets by prominent artists from a secret location in Berlin. This iconic, vinyl-only mix is Parker’s Studio R° set from 2013, now fully remastered for your listening pleasure. Building atmospheres unlike any other, brooding and transcending in equal measure, Parker has laid the foundation to an exceptionally rich body of work. Master of the industrial vocab, peeping towards Detroit but with his defining spin on the early days genre, Parker entices us down the path of steely monumentality and laser-precise mind control. Just as typically mazy, his present mix conjures up all traits of quality Parker material: 909-powered propulsion, enslaving acid whorls, Escher-like fractals. Wild, wild ride ahead.

Raised in a small Sardinian town (Italy), he has always been in close contact with all kinds of music but the influences received by the strong Techno wave coming from Detroit and the special attractions for Concrete and Electroacoustic music definitively marked the development of his current musical ideology. The experiences that derive from his personal observations in the field of Electroacoustic music are combined with the continuing study of lean and simple rhythmic structures. His feelings and adventures turn into deep and hypnotic atmospheres that are intertwined with abstract and sharp rhythms. Claudio releases music on German label Prologue and also appeared on labels such as Aconito Records and Stroboscopic Artefacts. His DJ sets are characterized by the same concept that distinguishes his music and range from complex Ambient to sophisticated Techno.

Fan of EDM and amateur DJ.  I make playlists for festivals/events I plan on attending so that I have an idea of which artists I really want to check out.  I try to put good quality tracks in my playlists, but some artists are now publishing low quality tracks, especially for live sets.  My playlists are only meant as a sample of what/how artists might play live.  When I can't find live or mix tracks that are longer than 30 minutes and of good sound quality, I just add the artist's tracks OR tribute mixes made by other DJs.  I hope you enjoy the playlists and discover artists you may never have paid attention to.  I definitely have.  I also repost whatever makes me get up and dance.
