Unsound 2022 brought together LCY and Lee Gamble to play a blistering b2b set exploring percussive techno, jungle, and beyond. Fortunately, we hit the record button, resulting in Unsound Podcast 87!
Lee Gamble creates genre-agnostic music, incorporating dub, garage, and jungle, bleeding into grindcore metal and machine-strength techno. LCY was born and bred in Bristol, soaking up the city's rich soundsystem culture, which still plays a crucial part in their music. Each artist is a fan of the other's work, feeding into this set's fantastic energy. Enjoy!

A few weeks back I recorded a show for Nervous Horizon on Rinse FM. My debut on the station, S/O TSVI. 
Here it is, a raw recording/ no edits, celebrating forward thinking sound system culture from around the diaspora, selected with TLC soundsystem, a sound system I have the pleasure of playing on regularly at home in Glasgow, how Rich, chaotic yet contained and purposeful it sounds firmly in mind.

Spring 2023 is shaping up to be Tzusing season, with appearances at Manchester's The White Hotel (where he'll make his debut in the city at a party with the PAN crew this evening), Rewire and Lyon festival Nuits Sonores all taking place in the coming weeks. This playful selection of hard drum, hip-hop edits and other dancefloor weapons plucked from his current club set rotation makes it easy to see why.

Fact Mix 904: Happy New Tears (Apr '23)

Bill Kouligas is the mind behind one of modern electronic music's greatest and most innovative labels, PAN. His remarkable ear for music meant that he released some of the earliest records from luminaries like Yves Tumor, Helena Hauff and Eartheater, helping to jumpstart several remarkable careers. And each PAN release is lovingly and lavishly packaged like an art object in itself, an approach you can read more about in this month's feature-length cover story.

The Berlin artist's RA Podcast is an audio companion to that cover story, and it underlines not only Kouligas's range as a label A&R but also as a DJ. Reflecting the label's evolution from straight-up noise to musique concréte to leftfield dance music and then avant-pop, the mix cycles through stages of strange, staggered beats, almost celestial ambient music, passages of overwhelming noise and sound that sublimate into floating clouds before solidifying back into club music, and a couple engaging spoken word passages and endless manipulations of the human voice. In other words, it sounds a lot like PAN.
