All songs are built around fragments of a guitar chord and scattered vocal snippets I recorded in my tiny Airbnb apartment in Tokyo, September 2024. 
One night, while wandering the empty streets of Shinjuku, I stumbled upon an old VOX guitar amp in the trash—abandoned, yet somehow still alive. 
The amp wasn’t really an instrument; it was a relic for me, something I left untouched, a reminder of things I wished I could remember but never can.

Welcome to the official remix competition for two tracks from Mr. Green's latest album 'Super Ape vs. Open Door' with musical legend Lee Scratch Perry. 

Mr. Green is a DJ/Producer hailing from NJ who has produced tracks for Snoop Dogg, Talib Kweli, Vinnie Paz, Jedi Mind Tricks and Westside Gunn among others. He's also behind VICE's 'Live From the Streets' series which explores inner city cultures through music. Lee "Scratch" Perry is an iconic music producer, singer and a pioneer of the development of dub music. He has worked with and produced for a variety of fellow iconic artists such as Bob Marley, Beastie Boys and The Clash and was sampled by Kanye West for his production for Jay-Z’s 'Lucifer.' 

Two beats are available for remix in this competition, and they're two sides of the same coin: the deep and dubby 'Callaloo' and the blazing 'Hot Fire', remix them separately or combine the sounds.
