2013 has seen a “New Wave” of North Korean Pop Music sweeping through Pyongyang. Created at the initiative and under the direction of Kim Jong Un, the somewhat sexy all-female, short skirt wearing, Moranbong Band presents an audacious marriage between classical music and more contemporary styles.

The Moranbong Band song “Without a Break” is frequently the backdrop to North Korean propaganda videos that depict the use of nuclear weapons on the enemies of North Korea.
You wont find the Moranbong Band in iTunes or at your local record store! In fact I’m not aware of them even releasing an album or single in North Korea.

This EP was produced by editing and remixing extracts from concert performances of the band in mid 2012 and early 2013.
