DJ Babatr Delivers a Stripped-Down Remix of Tom Peters’ ‘Fuego’ on DESSERT

Berlin-based label DESSERT is thrilled to unveil the latest evolution of its standout release, ‘Fuego’ by label head Tom Peters, with a stunning remix by DJ Babatr. Also known as Baba The Raptor, DJ Babatr has risen to International acclaim as an originator,
progenitor, and musical grandfather of rapture house and Latin club. Known for his precision and refined approach, Babatr reimagines the original with a minimalist touch, stripping the track back while maintaining a hypnotic, bouncy bassline that’s ready to ignite dance floors.

The remix oﬀers a clean and sophisticated take on the original’s heavy, dystopian energy. While retaining the futuristic essence and darkly rasping vocal mantra of ‘Fuego,’ DJ Babatr’s version pares things down to their core, highlighting the interplay of
stripped-back rhythms and subtle yet compelling synth work. This rework is a testament to Babatr’s skill in blending minimalism with groove-heavy club aesthetics.

BCCO Premiere: Tom Peters - Fuego (Dj Babatr Remix) [DES0039]

@Cucarazha es un productor, compositor y DJ chileno originario de Valparaíso y radicado en Santiago. Su sonido se sumerge en una alquimia sonora donde el gabber, el trance y la cultura rave sirven como base para una exploración musical intensa. Estos géneros se deconstruyen y renacen en un paisaje que mezcla ritmos latinos, callejeros y siniestros, dando forma a un latin club distópico con tintes de máquina industrial, donde la pista de baile se convierte en un ritual urbano.  

Este track es una pieza clave de su próximo EP, donde Cucarazha despliega un sonido férreo y visceral, navegando entre la melancolía y la agresión rítmica. Su música es una búsqueda constante de ese punto de fuga donde la violencia sonora encuentra su catarsis melódica, y la pista de baile deja de ser un simple espacio físico para convertirse en una trinchera emocional, donde cada golpe de kick es una protesta y cada melodía, una herida abierta que sigue latiendo sin miedo.

On 23rd of September, Jamaican artist Dion McKenzie aka TYGAPAW will join with Tresor Records to release IMMIGRANT, a two-track digital EP that marks a new chapter in their artistic journey.

With emotions to the fore on both cuts, TYGAPAW uses their music to detail two journeys they have undertaken over recent years: 

M32 riddim is a sonic representation of the pulse that races when survival mode kicks in; a pulse that is ever present as an immigrant in the United States of America. As such, the music is alert, verging on oppressive: fast-paced and constructed of waves of synths that feel like alarms and sirens heralding drums that could represent the heavy footfall of escape.

In stark contrast, second track Black Trans Masculine Experience is a vulnerable, intimate, melodic piece composed of loop-based overdubs and speech that gives profound insight into the isolation and erasure that comes while transitioning. Through a recorded conversation that took place in TYGAPAW’s living room in the fall of 2024, Kings-Lee Rose describes the process of becoming invisible as he transitions from being perceived as a Black woman to a Black man, and the drastic social shift that takes place during that process.

The message of Black Trans Masculine Experience is further enhanced by the self-directed and produced video which illustrates the emotional content and the feelings of solitude whilst also making space for the love and magic.

Together, the two pieces demonstrate the broad palette of an artist who takes their struggles and transmutes them into a powerful statement, or as McKenzie states, into “the sound of resilience”.
