The first official release from Beats & Bars is Who They Wish I Was, a complete 9 track EP. Written and produced by students of Little Village Lawndale High School, Who They Wish I Was chronicles the day to day life of these southwest side teenagers. Songs such as “Can’t Take It No More” focuses on their angst towards their environment and coping with the repercussions of street life in Chicago. The title song “Who They Wish I Was” has the teens proclaiming they will not become what society expects them to be as young men from the inner city. “It’s Alright” and “I Was Wrong” provide a hopeful ending to the project. Produced predominantly by Disrupt, one of the students in the program, the production on the EP is a perfect balance of soul samples and hard hitting drums. Who They Wish I Was encompasses the life many teens in Chicago face on a daily basis, but these teens plan on surpassing all expectations and becoming their cities next success stories.

The Lawndale Project was written, produced and recorded within a 6 week time span in a small makeshift studio at Little Village Lawndale High School as part of the Beats and Bars program ran by Navarro. A collaborative effort amongst a group of teens from the SW side of Chicago, the Lawndale Project embodies their realities, their truths as well as their aspirations. With production by Disrupt, CashmoneyAP (Chief Keef, Fetty Wap, G Herbo, Young Thug), Trumaine, Al Dilla and Nero; the EP becomes the soundtrack to their daily lives as well as their ambitions. The Lawndale Project is the 2nd album released via the Beats and Bars after school program.

Beats and Bars, the collective of young artists from Chicago's SW side, return with a brand new single from their new project, Life to the Lifeless. The song is titled Ballad of a Thug and it features Godspeed, Bravo and the groups' mentor, Navarro. The soulful production is handled by ILLWILLBEATZ (illwillbeatz.com). The Beats and Bars collective from Chicago's southwest side are back with their third album, Life to the Lifeless. The project was written, produced and recorded during the early winter months of 2017. The teens from Beats and Bars wrote, produced and recorded the entire album during the after school program in the Little Village/Lawndale neighborhood. The project was inspired by the words of Baba Kwesi Ronald Harris, who can be heard on Can't Go. We are the life preservers.
