‘Walking On A Flashlight Beam’ is the brand new album from Lunatic Soul due to be released through Kscope on 13th October 2014. 

Lunatic Soul is the solo project from Mariusz Duda, the creative force, lead singer and talented multi-instrumentalist behind Poland's Progressive Rock shooting stars Riverside.

‘Walking On A Flashlight Beam’ is the fourth album from Lunatic Soul and follow up to  2011’s acclaimed ‘Impressions’ album and comprises of almost 64 minutes of brand new music.

Commenting on his new opus  Duda says  “These are very dark and intense compositions but very melodious too. I think it’s one of the best things I’ve ever written, if not the best one”.

The first single & video due to be taken from the new album will be for the track ‘Cold’.

As with previous Lunatic Soul albums artwork was created by the renowned cover artist Travis Smith who has previous created covers for the likes of Opeth & Riverside.

‘Molok’ the follow up to their acclaimed 2014 album Demon sees the band continue to push the boundaries for creating the most complicated and strangest concepts for a record while simultaneously becoming the first band ever who are actively trying to destroy the universe with their album.

A small code that sounds like a strange noise at the end of the album will cause the correction software that runs in all CD players to generate a random number every time the CD is played. If that number should correspond to the actual position of all electrons in the universe then technically the universe could be destroyed.  

Of course you may wonder why a band would want to destroy the universe but as the band ask, ‘If it can be destroyed by such minute creatures within it, if it is just a chemical reaction, then does it have any spiritual value? In this scenario there is no good or bad, just an absence of meaning'.

Across the album there are religious themes going head to head with modern day new science ideas and theories, Gazpacho’s Thomas Andersen states, ‘the album itself is about a man that sometime around 1920 decides that wherever anyone worships a God they always seem to be worshipping stone in some form. Whether it is a grand cathedral, the stone in Mecca or Stonehenge. God seems to have been chased by his worshipers into stone never to return. This harkens back to Norwegian folk myths where if a troll was exposed to sunlight it would turn to stone but it also reflects the way God has been incommunicado for a very long time.’

The band go on to say, ‘In a mechanistic view of the universe all events in the universe are a consequence of a previous event. This means that with enough information you should be able to calculate the past and the future and this is what he does. He names the machine ‘Molok’ after the biblical demon into whose jaws children were sacrificed because his machine crunches numbers. On solstice day he starts the machine and it quickly gains some form of intelligence as it races through history undergoing its own evolution.‘

Throughout ‘Molok’ the band focus on the idea that without God/a god to guide us, humanity is unsure of the meaning of life, that while we attempt to fill the void with other things we’ve still not found the answer and without a master to lean on we are very much alone in this universe.

On the album Gazpacho make a direct connection with history. Norwegian music archaeologist Gjermund Kolltveit appears on the song "Molok Rising" plays his reconstruction of stone-age instruments making an educated guess at what the early songs of worship must have sounded like. This includes small stones, moose jaws and an assortment of flutes and stringed instruments. He also plays the Skåra stone, a singing stone which has a strong possibility of having been in use since the last ice age ended 10.000 years ago. Technically this means that the album uses the oldest original instrument ever recorded on an album.
The band are also joined by world-renowned Norwegian accordion player Stian Carstensen who is a central member of Balkan-jazz orchestra Farmers Market

Directed by Lasse Hoile (Steven Wilson / Katatonia /Opeth), 'A Sort of Homecoming' is a stunning concert film of Anathema’s homecoming show on March 7th 2015 in the spectacular setting of the Liverpool Cathedral. Set for release on 30th October through Kscope (Steven Wilson, TesseracT, Katatonia) the concert was described by Prog Magazine as “a once in a lifetime experience that words can barely do justice.”

Having previously worked with Anathema on their acclaimed ‘Universal’ concert film, Lasse Hoile captured the 100 minute acoustic set in high definition against the sensational backdrop of Liverpool Cathedral. Featuring 15 songs selected from the albums Distant Satellites, Weather Systems, We’re Here Because We’re Here, A Natural Disaster and Alternative 4, the ‘Anathema Acoustic’ trio of Daniel Cavanagh, Vincent Cavanagh and Lee Douglas were joined by rhythm section John Douglas & Jamie Cavanagh, alongside their very talented close friend David Wesling on cello who also played on Hindsight (2009) and A Moment In Time (2006). For this exclusive performance the band were also joined by the renowned violinist, Anna Phoebe on a haunting rendition of ‘Anathema’. The audio has been produced and mixed by Christer-André Cederberg who worked on Distant Satellites, Universal and Weather Systems, with the cover and booklet artwork featuring the stunning photography from the show and behind the scenes by long time collaborator Caroline Traitler. This is the first Anathema live release to feature a 5.1 audio mix, engineered by Bruce Soord.

The self titled album was recorded during the summer of 2015 at Bruce Soord’s UK studio. All the tracks were written and performed by Soord with Darren Charles (Godsticks) playing additional guitar.

Having wanted to make a solo album for many years Soord found himself taking surprising paths to create this record; here he has explored the softer, dreamier side of his song-writing - more acoustic in nature, whilst retaining depth in its arrangement.

Revisiting his entire life to find inspiration for the songs. A lifetime growing up in a small town, a once thriving sprawl of friends, lovers and music; much of that now decayed - the venues are closed and the old hunting grounds unrecognizable - this record is a celebration of the past as much as it is an epitaph of times past. While the songs describe a sense of the past that has been lost, it is also a celebration of a wonderful and tragic town.

Soord recently premiered the songs live with a UK tour supporting label mates Sweet Billy Pilgrim.

The Pineapple Thief, formed in 1999 by Bruce Soord have continued to evolve and refine their sound ever since and are seen by many as one of the most interesting and innovative rock bands the UK have produced in recent years. Recent albums like Magnolia (2014), All The Wars (2012) and Someone Here Is Missing (2010) have made their reputation and fan base stronger, starting to gather interest from a wider spectrum of alternative rock followers. Bruce Soord also collaborates with other Kscope artists, joining forces with Katatonia's Jonas Renkse on the 2013 Wisdom Of Crowds project and joining Katatonia on their Dethroned & Uncrowned Unplugged acoustic European tour. Soord is also working on various other projects creating 5.1 mixes including the new TesseracT album Polaris and remixing Opeth's album Deliverance
