The Leeds VA project. 

Coming from our inception back in 2021 in our home of Leeds we set about creating a community in which we could share, promote, and appreciate the amazing talent and culture that is in the city. A year down the line we have been fortunate to reach an opportunity where we can start promoting this music even further... The first instalment of The Leeds VA project showcases a glimpse of the underground electronic music scene in Leeds, offering a tasty assortment of UKG, Breaks, and all else that your heart desires (or doesn't).

After making a splash on his debut with the ‘If It’s Nice Flip It Twice VIP’ at the end of 2021, following in the steps of Jammz & Jack Dat by sampling French Montana’s Shot Caller he returned in April of this year with an original track being solely responsible for the funky flavours on the latest series of FNG (1FFNG007) with a melodic and bass driven number ‘Sequences’.

It wouldn't be a 1Forty release without the club sounds and with Arma being the biggest contributor to the Funky output over the past 12 months we asked him to have a pop at a VIP which has served up some Jersey vibes, which we haven't seen since Casement last released on the label.

From funky two-step to driving breaks, wonky bassline to happy hardcore; Ghoulish can do it all. 

Over the past year, the young producer and DJ has demonstrated his talent for channelling bassy UK flavours into his own productions which have had support from the likes of Riz La Teef, Bakey and Frazer Ray. A marvelled string of self-releases has highlighted his ability to sit amongst some of the most prominent names in the scene. 

On Sight is a solid example of how Ghoulish’s ability allows him to think outside of a standard structure and delve deep into broken rhythms and swinging percussion. Punchy basslines and whaling sirens are guaranteed to energise any raver on the dancefloor. Complex arrangements combine chaotic percussive patterns with vocal jitters and fine sample work, once again showcasing this prodigy’s talent. 

Firmly cementing himself as an integral part of the UK bass scene, On Sight is a step forward for Ghoulish as he climbs the ranks as one of the most talented artists in the game.
