He is rising quickly, from releasing works through Teeth Clippers, Echo Train Records, and The Big Fresh Collective, to remixing Desert Sound Colony on their label Holding Hands Records. He closes the show with one of his signature broad-reaching sets, with a focus on dynamic bass music.

Based out of Wellington New Zealand, Shli has defined his self as a mixologist when it comes to his production, a crazii-cross road of trance licked Jungle breaks, and experimental club as some might put it. With healthy self releases and appearances on Holding Hands and Echo train records, Shli has definitely nailed his splinter into the global dance scene and we are stoked to see what Shli has up his shlieve for us in the near future xP

For Feeling Blue’s fifth release comes one of the most hotly-tipped producers out of Ōtautahi, Christchurch - Shli, making their label debut with new 4-track EP ‘Backrooms’.

The EP feels like both an ode to classic, percussive club production with signature and recognisable sample and pattern selections, as well as an exploration of the new wave of underground, weaved with dark, clever, distorted and intricate melodic elements right throughout. The result is the perfect catalyst of current underground and house party “backroom” culture found only in New Zealand. 

The title track ‘Backrooms’ closes the project, seeing @1shli flex his production prowess through atmospheric and downtempo hip-hop chops.

The EP feels like both an ode to classic, percussive club production with signature and recognisable sample and pattern selections, as well as an exploration of the new wave of underground, weaved with dark, clever, distorted and intricate melodic elements right throughout. The result is the perfect catalyst of current underground and house party “backroom” culture found only in New Zealand.

‘Anemoia’ kicks off laying out the sonic palette for the EP; a powerful 2-step beat, dubby synths intricately affected and interacting effortlessly with it, and a deep, wobbly bass wrapping all elements together. ‘Sepia’ moves to 4-to-the-floor, the kick sometimes broken and syncopated to continue its relentless movement through off-beat synth stabs and flourishes. ‘Xylem’ carries an early Floating Points-esque energy; cleverly stereo-placed percussion fills out a more simple but no-less captivating melody, the toms and bass line almost conversing with each other. The title track ‘Backrooms’ closes the project, seeing Shli flex his production prowess through atmospheric and downtempo hip-hop chops.

This mix is a 1-for-1 showdown of productions between Murk1 and Shli. Moving through bass, grime and experimental styles throughout the full hour.


Steadily releasing works over recent years through local labels like Echo Train and the Big Fresh Collective, Shli’s (@1shli) productions stitch together infectious rhythms layered over low-end pressure. His sets drawing influence from across the hardcore continuum and beyond, creating dancefloor moments from trippy rhythmic states to unleashing sheer bass weight deluges. 

MURK1/M1 (@kls-wun) established himself in late 2019 through his sets and grime influenced productions. With his works being supported and played on stations such as Rinse FM, SWU and many more. 2024 saw him  release his productions on French label, French Tabloïd. Focusing on the future, his sound has developed to be more interpretive of the dark and percussive side of techno, fusing his love with grime into rhythm driven sub-heavy sounds.

RQBLK01 is the inaugural release of Aotearoa/New Zealand-born turned Naarm/Melbourne-based label Racquet Club's 'black label' series.

A double-single & the debut of One Eight, a dub techno joint designed to push club systems with a remix via Ōtautahi-via-Pōneke producer Shli.

'Private Dub (Shli Remix)', premiered here, is a tough reimagining of One Eight's original track, marrying the recontextualised synths with steppy percussion. Moody music for cold winter days across both Naarm & Ōtautahi alike.
