For the third part of my cathartic musical homage to Zack Snyder’s DCEU vision as part of the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement, I decided to create music for a character who apparently got severely tampered with in the theatrical cut of JL: Steppenwolf - The End of Worlds.

Referencing Lex Luthor’s line in BvS about devil’s coming from the sky (and the new placement of the infamous painting in his office at the end of the movie), in my perception, this was supposed to be more than a mere fumbling bully of a villain. Rather the most realistic embodiment of evil from another realm. The blend of an invading tyrant and Satan (or Satan’s second in command, if you will, considering he is the general of Darkseid’s army). In other words, he was supposed to be absolutely terrifying.

I did my best to come up with something epic, demonic and intimidating. The sound of an army marching out of hell.

So crank up the volume and feel the fear take over you as you hear the blade of Steppenwolf’s axe shimmer close to your ears and brace for the bombastic arrival of the demon general of Apokolips.

Dedicated especially to Zack Snyder, Junkie XL, Hans Zimmer and Ciarán Hinds.
