“For the most part I am just excited for everybody to finally get to hear what I’ve been working on for such a long time,” YungKen said.

“I’ve always been passionate about music and I’ve been working at it for a while. So, I’m glad to finally have the opportunity to be able to give this to everyone and speak to them through the music I have created.

“I am putting my feelings and emotions into it and now I can let everyone hear exactly what I’ve been busy working on.”

He continued, “I appreciate the feedback that I’ve gotten so far. It’s a lot of good feedback form people I’ve been close to and I appreciate it a lot. Much love to everyone because I have to give that love back. Just really excited to give people my take on it.”

YungKen - Balmain Denin

Born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas, 26-year-old YungKen(a.k.a. 1YungKen)–real name Kendal Pinder -is an artist first and foremost, a Scorpio, and a self-described “cool person.” With a career steadily on the rise, he’s proudly been featured in Bahamian publications such as The Tribune and The Punch, on international hip hop blogs and websites, and the hip hop app RapChat.

YungKen spent much of his youth between Florida, with his mother’s family, and the areas of Minnie Street, Englerston, Carmichael, and Flamingo Gardens.

His art has been inspired by the likes of Big Sean, Outkast, J. Cole, old school Kendrick Lamar, and most notably Gunna. His first major Bahamian role model was in the form of artist Rio Johnson, a.k.a. Johnny Cake.

YungKen signed his first recording contract with Brdrins Records. He describes his music as “pure energy,” saying, “It’s more than just music to me; it’s vibes. You’re gonna know it when you feel it, because you ain’t gonna hear it–you’re gonna feel it.
