As the weather turns from the heat of summer to the first cool vestiges of fall, there is an energy upon the air. Twisting around people and places, turning leaves to amber and orange. Our companion mix for these times comes in the form of Seville based DJ, and producer Halos. Ambient Sessions # 97 - Submersion

‘Nothing Like a Dream’ is an hour-long audio-visual mix recorded live at 2-3 FAIR for our recent group show ‘No Knowledge Of Utopia,' recorded by Luke C. (audio) and Rhys Carlill (visuals).

The tracks and video selected and played were done so to compliment the art in the show and to act as an extension to it, leaning into the show's exploration of utopic landscapes. 

The mix flows through cinematic ambient and barely-there wide-screen grooves that melt into one another as the visuals play out like a hallucinogenic fever-dream.

We are so happy to welcome his musical alter today.

DJ and sound artist with Radiomentale and Quiet Voices, Jean-Yves Leloup was also, as a journalist, one of the privileged witnesses of the emergence of the electro movement, which he echoed through articles, radio shows and books, including Ambient Music (2021), Techno 100 (2018), Global Techno (1999) and Digital Magma: from the utopia of rave parties to the iPod generation (2006).
As a curator, he leads numerous projects at the intersection of art and music, such as the listening devices The Listener (2017) and Audiolab (2001-2003), and the exhibitions Electrosound (2016) and Electro (2019-2022).
RadioMentale's latest album "The Landscape Melts Into Itself" was released in 2021 by Irradiant Hologram.
Quiet Voices' ep "Hantologies", will be released in March 2022 by Sähkö Recordings.

A tender mosaic captured in soft focus, courtesy of The Something Something's Will Oirson. Recorded during the final act of ISOTOOP's "The Mind-Altering Experiment," an exploratory event which traced the course of an entire summer's evening, Will's morning call is a testament to shared experience, a confirmation of combined existence. Each selection is given room to breathe, space to occupy, and time to endure. It's impossible not to yearn for more.
