Fragments of Reality continue to suck you through wormholes into the multiverse with the second selection of exclusive V/A tracks produced for the fledgling imprint.

FOR02 opens with a brand new collaboration between Subb-an (ONE records) and Luther Vine (Phonica) with a track called ‘Expression’ - an ominous, swirling, floor filling monster that combines relentless rhythms, otherworldly vocals and futuristic synths into a high quality production. It’s closely followed by ‘Animal Anthem’ from acid breaks maestro Rudolf C that features his trademark multidimensional layers of sounds wrapped up in a contemplative mood and finished with intense production skills.

The flip side opens with ‘Pyramid’ a fresh new sound from a mysterious duo, Voodoos and Taboos. Following a string of high calibre releases on Phonica AM and their own label the duo continue to make their mark as masters of cinematic sound design with this tripped out mind melter! FOR02 is beautifully balanced with ‘Enchanted’ from Berlin based duo ERIS, known amongst other things for their releases on Tokyo based label, Cabaret.  Once again Fragments of Reality deliver four unique excursions into different dimensions and soundscapes...

Los Angeles based ASHRR return with a 100bpm Italo inspired chugger - What’s Been Turning You on feat. System Olympia Remixes for their third release on 20/20 Vision. The record follows Fizzy with a cut taken from their forthcoming Sunshine Low album re-interpreted by the band under the guise of their ASHRR Soundsystem alter ego driving darker dub versions of the main versions, taking the songs onto club and big room sound systems with insistent arpeggiated synth sequences, tripped out top line melodies and chunky drums.

System Olympia has been forging her unique New Erotica audio visual experience since 2018 making a name for herself from London to Napoli, Berlin and back. Embodying the spirit of the Italian Nu Wave from 1980s bands such as N.O.I.A, Neon and Alexander Robotnick, System is bringing her own take on slo mo electro pop to the table by adding vocals and synth arrangements to the remixes that will sound as good on headphones as they will in the club. System’s vinyl output is highly sought after and highly collectible so expect these remixes to fly.

ASHRR-03: What’s Been Turning You On (System Olympia Remixes)

Luther Vine's Fragments Of Reality are back with another kaleidoscopic compilation of cutting- edge sounds which gush with innovative verve and luminously hued vigour. 

FOR06 opens with a volcanic eruption of groove and swagger by Irish born, London based Wizkid to watch out for Rhythms of Prescott. The track titled ‘Three One Two’ bares his signature hallmarks of tightly woven glitchy strums and kicks and offers an exhilarating jaunt through Déjà vu-inducing parallel universe dancefloor. 

‘Dress 2 Sweat’ by Aguila sets up the 90’s inspired echo- muffled vocal samples to effortlessly glide atop the introspective warm, sun-bleached bassline. It’s been tested and certified as an ideal weapon to have locked and loaded for an early night proceeding. Equally it could further decorate any a plush exuberance of a decadent after-hours dancefloor. 

Next, we challenge you to feel your headspace with the ‘Delayed Fizz’ by Douwe and Picasso. Its chiselled groove section with urbanesque electro twists sets the centre stage for the playful arpeggiated harmonies. The result is infectious and promises to spread the movement across the dancefloor like a wildfire. 

The closing track of FOR06 is a testament to how varied and fresh the label’s pallet is regarding the cutting-edge new sounds. ‘Unintended Consequences’ by Tom Frankel is graceful, yet dynamic affair with retro-tinged melodic touch. It masterfully avoids clichés and lives a long-lasting lingering feeling that should tie you over at least until the FOR07 is ready to pick up where this belter of an EP leaves you.

Amsterdam-based producer/DJ and ‘De Lichting’ co-founder ‘Eversines’ makes his 20/20 Vision debut with ‘Turning Blue’. 

Between releasing forward-thinking dance-floor outings for labels such as Kalahari Oyster Cult and Nous’Klaer Audio, plus tapping into intricate otherworldly sound design, Eversines is one of the most exciting producers out there. 

Eversines has been active in electronic music for over a decade, with an impressive back catalogue that explores the sonic fringes of contemporary electronic music, from ethereal rolling house to energetic yet dreamy electronic cuts. 

‘Turning Blue’ sees Eversines intricately blend elements of house and techno to create a selection of beautifully formed club ready cuts.

One of the most sought after records of all time on 20/20 Vision finally gets a re-issue from the original master recordings for its 25th anniversary. 

‘Lockdown’ has been on the radar for the next generation of vinyl collectors for many years with its “Do You Want to Feel the Bass with Me” vocoded vocal courtesy of Carl Finlow accompanied by Kong Trinity syncopated synth sounds and tight staccato drums. 

Finlow lets loose and goes freestyle on the keys for ‘On the Air’ which has stood the test of time as a bona fide slice of turn of the millennium Electro Funk. ‘Undercurrent’ continues the pulsating bass driven drama also becoming a much in demand underground dance floor weapon.

The EP is rounded off nicely with the Lo Fi 8 Bit Electro bomb that is this shape of things to come for his output as Carl Finlow - Disconnect. All the tracks are classic Finlow, all the tracks still sound as good today. Absolute essential re-issue for any record collection.

Frantic Formula is a timeless moment of melodic techno created by Falko Brocksieper originally released on Treibstoff Recordings. A track so pure and perfect that it deserves to be re-mastered and re-presented for the next generation, which is precisely what 20/20 Vision has done.  The story only begins with Frantic Formula as connecting with Falko leads to unearthing a treasure trove of productions including unreleased gems and tracks that had never been pressed on vinyl – one of which Covert Action sits proudly on the flip side. The record is completed with Outrun which sounds as fresh and current today as it did when recorded back in 2006. 

Frantic Formula is a rare piece of electronic music perfection, one of those tracks where you can’t imagine changing a single element as intricate synth sequences support a haunting main hook that stays with you long after the record has run out. It stands right up there alongside classic productions such as Isolee – Allowance or Loco Dice – Seeing Through Shadows. 

Outrun features a sound system shaking bottom-end bass wobble that rattles the bones and moves the feet. Covert Action is a DJ’s dream mix track with heavily grooved filtered toms that would make Chicago proud running consistently around a heavily affected cowbell punctuated by trippy drops for the floor.

It's been 10 years since their last release on 20/20 Vision, but it is with great excitement that we welcome Spirit Catcher back to the label with their aptly named Blast From The Past EP! 

As one of the corner stones of 20/20, their early singles and album are legendary label artefacts and these guys were total pioneers of the cosmic, disco infused house sound which then became prominent in following years. 

Blast From The Past has been getting heavy rotation in Ralph Lawson's sets over the summer and so we're really glad to finally see it reach the light of day. This one is a trip into hyperspace with cosmic synth pulses leading the way before a killer bass line takes you track straight to planet Spirit Catcher! 

On the flip Closer takes the trip further with more expert bass hooks being joined by vox pads and otherwordly fx. The EP is finished off with Routing Madness, a homeage to the duos love for analogue studio gear which you can hear in the intricate synth patterns which pop and weave through the tracks duration.

Viewing the dj's record would always show a Carl Finlow moniker or production. Carl Finlow's vocoder work was amazing and inspiring!”.

We hear the phrase ‘unsung hero’ often slung around, but if ever there was a true unsung hero in electronic music it would be Carl Finlow. Active since the early 90s Finlow has produced a prolific catalogue under the pseudonyms Voice Stealer, Silicon Scally and Random Factor on revered labels including Warp, Klang and Novamute but it is now time for Finlow to stand up and be counted for his lifetime contribution under his own name. 

Finlow was the co-founder of 20/20 Vision records and produced many of the early releases so it is a fitting tribute that the label has now compiled a collection of his very best electro works including the timeless classics ‘Anomaly’, ‘Convergence’ and ‘Broken Mirror’ as well as undiscovered cutting edge gems like ‘Undercover’ ‘Format Wars’ and ‘Electromotive Force’.

Born in Liverpool, Finlow was given a Moog Concert Mate MG1 by his father at the age of 13. He spent his lunch breaks entertaining the bored kids of Fisher Moore High School with the original Axel F theme by Harold Faltermeyer.  Carl was completely self-taught, managing to work out how to play keys and program synthesizers in his downtime. He has a pitch perfect ear and a natural gift for producing music. 

Of course there was Kraftwerk at the centre of Finlow’s universe but his knowledge was honed from a young age into the more experimental worlds of Tomita, Raymond Scott, Wendy Carlos, Delia Derbyshire and the BBC Radiophonic workshop. Early forays intro electro included listening to Cybotron and Model 500 but Finlow’s prolific period co-insided with the second wave of Detroit electro led by Drexciya and Aux 88 and the superb album by Dopplereffekt - 'Infophysix'. But it was the late James Stinson (1969-2002) produced Elecktroids - 'Elektroworld' that left the biggest imprint.  Both albums were on constant repeat at the infamous after-parties that happened at The Farm most weekends after going to back to basics club in Leeds. After the weekend dust had settled, Finlow retreated into the studio to forge his own unique marque on the electro genre. The product is in your hands now.
