20/20 Vision Recordings celebrate 30 years with a series of records and events called Full Circle. 

Started in a farmhouse studio outside Leeds by Ralph Lawson & Carl Finlow the label has gone on to be one of the most respected electronic music labels on the planet with a consistent output over three decades approaching 500 releases and 2000 tracks. 

Full Circle will feature highly sought rarities from the label sitting alongside new remixes, edits and unreleased versions. The first volume is simply a collection of bona fide classic 20/20 Vision music that needs nothing more than being re-presented to the next generation of music lovers as a timeless collection of moments in time.

Christian Löffler has since become a huge name for melodic techno and beautiful ambient music with a live show that has sold out major venues including The Barbican in London. First released in 2015 his track York was instantly a firm favourite for Dixon and the Innervisions collective with its unforgettable melancholic main theme and sparse arrangement. It has stood the test of time and remains a constant in the Löffler pantheon.

Tuccillo has produced several key records for 20/20 Vision over the years but there has always been something about Sabotage that has stood out and sends shivers down the spine. It continues perfectly on the record from York with its strong melodies evoking a sense of nostalgia that touches the heartstrings.

Art of Tones is the much-loved project of Ludovic Llorca that had its inception on 20/20 Vision with a series of superbly produced records culminating in Praise. Played across the board by DJs in the clubs on its first release in 2007 it has since become an anthem for Honey Dijon and recently included on her DJ Kicks compilation for K7 and now available again on vinyl exclusively on Full Circle.

Full Circle Volume One is completed by the first ever record on 20/20 Vision produced by Wulf n Bear – Space Groover. It sounds as fresh and inventive today as it did 30 years ago with its playful fusion of New York beats, Detroit influenced strings and Yorkshire bass. Synths came courtesy of Carl Finlow aka Random Factor and swirl off into space as a perfect end to a timeless record that deserves to be in every electronic music lovers collection.

VIS2030-EP1: 20/20 Vision – Full Circle Vol. One

Fresh off the back of their recently released ‘Sunshine Low’ LP, the LA-based band ASHRR return with the sixth instalment in a series of singles from the album, with remixes courtesy of one of the prime architects of Chicago house, Ron Trent, sitting alongside dub treatments from the bands alter ego ASHRR Soundsystem. 

With a prolific impact on dance music spanning over three decades, Ron Trent has played a pivotal role in shaping dance music culture, ultimately paving the way for the rest of the world. 

Ron is well known for his seminal imprint co-founded alongside Chez Damier, Prescription Underground, and has since been running his own Music And Power, alongside Future Vision, Electric Blue Recordings and most recently Warm. 

Following nearly a decade Ron has returned to international touring with key performances for Dekmantel, Rush Hour, DJ Harveys’s Klymax, We Out There and even the Montreux Jazz Festival. 

Ron’s remixes take PDSTR into new territories for the band with a genre defying fusion of soul, funk, disco, and indie dance with an unmatched musicality and immaculate production. Lovers of the magnificent Ron Trent remixes for Khruangabin will find these essential.

ASHRR-06: Please Don’t Stop The Rain (Ron Trent Remixes)

Satoshi Tomiie is a true unsung hero of house music and an ever-present member of the New York house music scene since being ‘found’ by Frankie Knuckles and co-producing Tears, one of the greatest moments in dance music history alongside Frankie with Robert Owens as his first ever record in 1989. 

Originally hailing from Tokyo, Satoshi also worked alongside another Japanese musical hero, Ryuichi Sakamoto from Yellow Magic Orchestra, and co-produced the title track from his Heartbeat album. 

Satoshi went on to be part of Def Mix productions with David Morales and embarked on the mighty catalogue of remixes the pair became famous for throughout the 90s including remixes for everyone from Madonna to Mariah Carey, Photek to Inner City and everyone in between.

However, Satoshi returned to the underground through is SAW recordings imprint and then deeper through an ever-expanding interest in modular synthesis which then expanded over-time to interpreting dub music techniques into house and techno productions. 

Forging a friendship with long time 20/20 Vision artist, Tuccillo, Satoshi ventured to the Napoli born producers Unblock Studio in Valencia and together created the Delta Dubs project that features a series of Live recordings all created in one take on the classic Soundcraft Delta desk that lends its name to this four-track journey into dub house. 

Delta Dubs are moments in time crafted by two aficionados of house music with hundreds of releases behind them. They pay respects to the past masters of dub but are firmly rooted in futuristic interpretations of the much-loved musical form. 

20/20 Vision are proud to host the first Delta Dubs volume of works from two masters at work.

Luther Vine's Fragments Of Reality are back with another kaleidoscopic compilation of cutting- edge sounds which gush with innovative verve and luminously hued vigour. 

FOR06 opens with a volcanic eruption of groove and swagger by Irish born, London based Wizkid to watch out for Rhythms of Prescott. The track titled ‘Three One Two’ bares his signature hallmarks of tightly woven glitchy strums and kicks and offers an exhilarating jaunt through Déjà vu-inducing parallel universe dancefloor. 

‘Dress 2 Sweat’ by Aguila sets up the 90’s inspired echo- muffled vocal samples to effortlessly glide atop the introspective warm, sun-bleached bassline. It’s been tested and certified as an ideal weapon to have locked and loaded for an early night proceeding. Equally it could further decorate any a plush exuberance of a decadent after-hours dancefloor. 

Next, we challenge you to feel your headspace with the ‘Delayed Fizz’ by Douwe and Picasso. Its chiselled groove section with urbanesque electro twists sets the centre stage for the playful arpeggiated harmonies. The result is infectious and promises to spread the movement across the dancefloor like a wildfire. 

The closing track of FOR06 is a testament to how varied and fresh the label’s pallet is regarding the cutting-edge new sounds. ‘Unintended Consequences’ by Tom Frankel is graceful, yet dynamic affair with retro-tinged melodic touch. It masterfully avoids clichés and lives a long-lasting lingering feeling that should tie you over at least until the FOR07 is ready to pick up where this belter of an EP leaves you.

LA-based trio ASHRR return with another sunkissed dose of cosmic new wave and indie electronica laced with psychedelic hues in the form of ‘Sway’. 

This time they’re joined by internationally renowned DJ and ESP Institute imprint manager ‘Lovefingers’ on remix duties, who supplies three genre-bending experimental dance gems perfect for summer terraces, pool-side parties or the dance floors of Pikes Ibiza.  

Lovefingers’ ESP Institute has dropped releases that have found their way into the bags of dance-floor heavy-hitters from Harvey to Weatherall and Moodymann to the legendary David Mancuso. His take on ASHRR original showcases dubbed-out oddities and psychedelic left turns in signature style.

Following the success of the recent ‘On the Air’ re-issue, which reached Number 1 across all genres on Juno’s Bestsellers chart, Carl Finlow continues to reignite his classic Random Factor series of records for 20/20 Vision with ‘Ricochet’. 
 
‘Ricochet’ was originally released in 2000 at the turn of the millennium, immediately after ‘On the Air’, during the last days of recording at the original 20/20 Vision studio -Hopefield Farm. Random Factor became the outlet for Finlow’s alter ego making deep house for the dancefloor aside from his hugely respected electro output as Silicon Scally and Voice Stealer.  Through Random Factor, Finlow became a highly sought after Live Act appearing at Sonar, fabric, The Loft and Moog in Barcelona, Monegros Festival and touring extensively across America. 
 
‘Ricochet’ features four more exceptional tracks that fuse tight bass & drums, courtesy of the Korg Trinity, with expert synthesizer knowledge honed from years in the electro world. There are no fillers on this record as each track has proved itself over the past 25 years and become highly sought after and highly priced before now finally being re-issued.

20/20 Vision present the first new random factor album for 15 years. 

Random Factor was originally created by Carl Finlow in 1994 as an alter ego alias for his productions, random factor has previously released four albums which contained some of the most memorable and unique songs in the label’s history including Broken Mirror, Convergence, Lockdown and Circuit Semantics. Random Factor then took the road as a pioneering live electronic music act appearing at Sonar Festival, fabric, The Loft, Moog Barcelona alongside extensive touring across Japan and America.

Finlow has forged a unique and instantly recognisable sound over the years rooted in an upbringing listening to Kraftwerk, Isao Tomita and Yello but moulded by Drexciya, Dopplereffekt, and Cybotron. Fans of Finlow include Helena Hauff, Stingray 313, Craig Richards and E.R.P. 

Silencer sees Finlow create a stunning return to random factor, from the spine-tingling opening of Alleviation, very much reminiscent of the classic Convergence, right through to the closing Anomaly 5, the fifth version in the lauded Anomaly series. Along the way Finlow demonstrates his ability to write songs that stand the test of time with a production prowess considered second to none in the world of electronic music.
Silencer features a mix of electro pop songs with melodies that stay in the head, like Alleviation, sitting alongside tracks built on layers of granular vocoders pushed to the maximum such as Adulterant and Lucent. All countered with softly sung moments of melancholic bliss on Angle of Attack and interjected with no-messing heads down dark room blasters such as Causality, Juiced, Tronic and Emerge. 

Synthesizers play a huge role as always and every track feels like an ever-evolving sonic adventure through Finlow’s imagination with the overall effect of a long-playing record that is best listened to from beginning to end.

It's been 10 years since their last release on 20/20 Vision, but it is with great excitement that we welcome Spirit Catcher back to the label with their aptly named Blast From The Past EP! 

As one of the corner stones of 20/20, their early singles and album are legendary label artefacts and these guys were total pioneers of the cosmic, disco infused house sound which then became prominent in following years. 

Blast From The Past has been getting heavy rotation in Ralph Lawson's sets over the summer and so we're really glad to finally see it reach the light of day. This one is a trip into hyperspace with cosmic synth pulses leading the way before a killer bass line takes you track straight to planet Spirit Catcher! 

On the flip Closer takes the trip further with more expert bass hooks being joined by vox pads and otherwordly fx. The EP is finished off with Routing Madness, a homeage to the duos love for analogue studio gear which you can hear in the intricate synth patterns which pop and weave through the tracks duration.

Viewing the dj's record would always show a Carl Finlow moniker or production. Carl Finlow's vocoder work was amazing and inspiring!”.

We hear the phrase ‘unsung hero’ often slung around, but if ever there was a true unsung hero in electronic music it would be Carl Finlow. Active since the early 90s Finlow has produced a prolific catalogue under the pseudonyms Voice Stealer, Silicon Scally and Random Factor on revered labels including Warp, Klang and Novamute but it is now time for Finlow to stand up and be counted for his lifetime contribution under his own name. 

Finlow was the co-founder of 20/20 Vision records and produced many of the early releases so it is a fitting tribute that the label has now compiled a collection of his very best electro works including the timeless classics ‘Anomaly’, ‘Convergence’ and ‘Broken Mirror’ as well as undiscovered cutting edge gems like ‘Undercover’ ‘Format Wars’ and ‘Electromotive Force’.

Born in Liverpool, Finlow was given a Moog Concert Mate MG1 by his father at the age of 13. He spent his lunch breaks entertaining the bored kids of Fisher Moore High School with the original Axel F theme by Harold Faltermeyer.  Carl was completely self-taught, managing to work out how to play keys and program synthesizers in his downtime. He has a pitch perfect ear and a natural gift for producing music. 

Of course there was Kraftwerk at the centre of Finlow’s universe but his knowledge was honed from a young age into the more experimental worlds of Tomita, Raymond Scott, Wendy Carlos, Delia Derbyshire and the BBC Radiophonic workshop. Early forays intro electro included listening to Cybotron and Model 500 but Finlow’s prolific period co-insided with the second wave of Detroit electro led by Drexciya and Aux 88 and the superb album by Dopplereffekt - 'Infophysix'. But it was the late James Stinson (1969-2002) produced Elecktroids - 'Elektroworld' that left the biggest imprint.  Both albums were on constant repeat at the infamous after-parties that happened at The Farm most weekends after going to back to basics club in Leeds. After the weekend dust had settled, Finlow retreated into the studio to forge his own unique marque on the electro genre. The product is in your hands now.

Kosh exploded onto the electro scene in 2018 with his debut release ‘Null 212’ on Casa Voyager records. The track that received the most attention was ‘Catch The Train’ with it’s faultless modern take on classic Detroit electro reminiscent of Cybotron and Aux 88.  It became a big track for 20/20 Vision founder Ralph Lawson who quickly invited Kosh to record for the label.

Kosh - ‘Vicious Love’ is a diverse 4 track EP showing off the Moroccan producers faultless production skills with the A-side featuring ‘An Arab in Space’ that continues to bring the classic sound of Detroit right up to date while title track ‘Vicious Love’ pushes into new territories, incorporating acid tinged synths, vocoded vocals and an insistent fast paced bassline. On the flip side ‘She Gets Mad’ is a straight up dance floor filler from the school of Casablanca while ‘Headache’ is precisely the opposite experience from the title with a relaxed, lush jam that oozes Larry Heard influences.
