To participate in the Haiku Music challenge::

- Make a song in response to the weekly assigned poem (a new poem is published every Wednesday)
- When choosing a title for your piece also include the assignment number, for example “Title of your track (naviarhaiku382)”

To submit your track:

- If you’re a Soundcloud user, upload it on Soundcloud and send me the URL via private message, or tag me in the track.
- If you upload your music on Youtube, Bandcamp or anywhere else, upload your submission and then send me the link by email at marco@naviarrecords.com or contact me on X, Facebook or Instagram
- If you don’t use any music platform, upload it to this Dropbox folder and I’ll include it in the weekly playlist. If you choose this option, make sure you include your name in the track’s title. www.dropbox.com/request/JvKyUfuCSzJ3gRNRocZz

Miura Chora (1729-1780) was a Japanese poet from Toba (present-day Mie Prefecture). Early in his career, he came into contact with the Teimon School, and bonded with the great Yosa Buson. An admirer of Matsuo Bashō, he strived for a return to the simple tones and spirit of the latter's poetics, criticizing the vulgarization of haiku of his era and advocating the so-called "return" to a Bashō's style.

For this I used 3 instances of VCV Rack running Voxglitch ArpSeq within Ableton Live. In Live, I was running FL Studio with Sytrus loaded, Live's Wavetable and Arturia's Arp 2600. From about 23 minutes, I used this small section towards the end and did a bit of editing.

This original version of "So Glad To See You Again" was submitted as part of Naviar Haiku 571, Stillness.

I had an idea of what I wanted to do for this one almost immediately after seeing the haiku, and while it's still there the overall form is far from what I imagined. With a clear starting point I took the opportunity to experiment and follow chance discoveries. As usual everything was created in virtual modular, using Voltage Modular from Cherry Audio. I set up everything for multi track recording and assigned physical controls and while this track was recorded in a single "Live" take I did do a couple of rehearsal runs before hitting record.

Other than a bit of targeted reverb on the sequenced elements there are no external effects other than the usual mix/mastering adjustments.

2024donut - The donut series has always been about hosting different donut sites which still exist going back to 2013. they will always be ready for collabs and sharing, this one might be expanded for from here on out and I just make it a pro site eventually.
