I noticed when listening to "Long Way Down" by Robert DeLong that it was the same key and chord progression as "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons. Actually, when I heard the intro I thought someone had made a really cool remix of "Radioactive". This is an attempt to put the two together, but I've never done a mashup before and I couldn't find an instrumental of "Long Way Down". So, let's just call it a WIP for now.

Family Ways (Fillycast parody)

So today I came downstairs like I normally do and hopped on the computer like I normally do and played guitar while I waited for the computer to start up like I normally do. Unlike what I normally do, this time I started playing a riff on my guitar that I really, really liked the sound of and was not from another song. While it sounds a bit like "Last Night" by The Strokes (and a little bit like "Teenage Rebel" by Chameleon Circuit), it's in a different rhythm, and hopefully as the song progresses it'll start to break away from sounding like that. This also was the first time I found a MIDI bass instrument I actually liked the sound of, so that was cool.

The reason I'm uploading a work that's so incomplete is that I need a topic for the lyrics. For a while, I've wanted to write a love song from the perspective of Shining Armor to Cadance, but with the preliminary melody I have in mind for the verses it'd sound quite a bit different than his character voice. I'm thinking about throwing caution to the wind and just writing on that topic anyway (I mean, Loyalty sounds nothing like Rainbow Dash), but I'm also looking for other suggestions for topics. If you listen to the opening and think "Gee, this would make a great (insert topic here) song," then please tell me in the comments!

Also, criticism on the actual music is quite welcome. I'm only just now getting used to recording in Live, so if you think something sounds off tell me and I'll do my best to try and make it sound better (just don't talk about how the guitar seems to get off rhythm towards the end, I know).

Untitled Track - Work in Progress (my first original!)

So that WIP I posted a while back has turned into a first verse and chorus now. Thoughts are much appreciated.

Yes, I know the vocals have crappy quality, but I don't have a good recording microphone yet and those were recorded specifically for this upload since I wanted to have something to share with my followers. Also, I'm hoping that this'll get me back my "Musician" tag in the Fillydelphia Radio Teamspeak 'cause I lost that when they reformatted.

The lyrics are based off of the fanfiction "Eternal" by device heretic and are as follows:

This is probably going to remain a WIP until I get a microphone that isn't attached to a pair of headphones, but those things are expensive and I have a feeling that I'll buy one and record on it and still think my vocals sound bad just because I'm actually a bad singer nowadays.

Eternally - Still a damn WIP - Poor vocal quality warning

So I'm still not quite where I want to be in terms of vocal quality, and the harmonies at this point are paltry. I'm gonna toss this at a few of my more experienced friends and ask them for some advice on how to make this song sound really good. I'm pretty proud of it as is, I just thik the harmonies could be a bit better and my voice could use some pitch correction (which I don't know how to/if you can do in Live, honestly...)
