Tech Spring 2017

New York City–based producer Ford Scott makes his label debut with four club-ready weapons that fuse deep minimal grooves with high-energy drive. Drawing inspiration from 90s house while adding his own modern edge, Ford has caught the attention of some of the scene’s biggest names with his innovative basslines, meticulous sound design, and relentless dancefloor focus.

The A-side opens with Watch Out, a crafty, rolling bassline paired with sleek, layered synth work and captivating sound design. Next up, Work That Body delivers suspense-filled builds and explosive drops, pairing hypnotic vocal chops with a punchy bassline for a full-throttle dancefloor weapon.

On the B-side, The Message channels 90s hip-hop swagger into a groovy, bass-driven cut with intricate melodic textures and fluid, evolving atmospheres. Closing out the EP, Can’t Sit Down turns up the heat with futuristic synth stabs, a driving low end, and a tightly-wound arrangement that refuses to let the energy drop.

One of our most beloved members of the Dirtybird Family, Shiba San debuted on the label nearly three years ago with “Okay”, and it still remains one of our biggest tracks ever. Since then he’s been a regular at our Dirtybird events around the country, and has made a steady appearance on the label with his penchant for producing music that not only makes you move your feet but also hard to get out of your head.

Shiba sent us “Up and Down” over the Summer, and it quickly became a go-to track for many sets on the Summer circuit, with fans rushing the stage and writing in to us trying to find out what it was. Originally set to come out on its own, Shiba then sent us “You Know What?”, and we knew we couldn’t turn away its thick bassline and unique synth melody.

They can collaborate remotely, assemble bar for bar like a swarm of Kuka robots with software magically aligning chords into key and have an unlimited data base of arrangements, sounds and samples available. But luckily enough it’s not that easy. It takes years of knowledge a good sense for music a obviously much more as well as that extra bit of luck to make things stick out and happen. Machines and algorithms are growing strong but when Golf Clap and Dillon Nathaniel hit the studio there is no doubt they will come up with something sick or in this case three amazing tracks we are proud to host.
