Mix No. 1: Constructible

A Preliminary Note: This mix series is suppose to mostly be a sort of techno set diary for me (@Constructible) to try to highlight some of the music I love the most. I will post my own content but will probably host friends and guests as they request to be on this page. The idea behind this series is record quick in-the-moment sets and upload them sporadically. No thinking, minimal editing/mastering, just recorded mixes from my apartment. I hope to always release quality mixes that are worthy of listens, but I plan to sacrifice perfection for the sake of capturing moments I am happy to share. A dive into some early 2010's tech house mixing in with some more modern peak techno. I recorded this as sort of a love letter to Mark Reeve and Remy Unger, hoping to capture the intensity, percussive groove, and depth of tech house from the 2010's. I really love this type of music: as I feel that tech house has been co-opted by finance bros on Tribeca rooftops, I wanted to demonstrate that there exists a time where this music did not conjure thoughts of Patagonia vests. This sort of music is not my usual style, but I had loads of fun recording this, I hope you enjoy!

Mix No. 2: Constructible

I love techno music, but deep and hypnotic techno holds a special place in my heart. I recently read an interview with Valentino Mora about the healing and mentally rejuvenating powers of this music. Anyone who roots themselves within the techno community knows that there is a currently fade slipping into the mainstream of harder, more aggressive techno; some see this as a commercialized step away from what makes techno special (I happen to be one of those people). So for me, this deeper, slower tempo music I find is a good counterpoint to the current state of things; to allow the minimal groove to mesmerize and entrance you, moving your body almost compulsorily, I find comfort in. Contradictory to everything I said above, I wanted to see what making the BPM slightly faster for this tracks would possibly add (only moved up from about 128 BPM average to 134 BPM, so still within the DVS1 safe range lol). Not all of these tracks are strictly minimal nor deep, but I found most of these to be really hypnotic. This was a fun mix to do, I will try not to obsessively post only deep hypnotic sets in the future, I hope you enjoy!

Mix No. 3: Constructible

I knew that for the third installment of this series, that I wanted to do more peak-time techno, bringing more serious intensity. One of my good friends has told me a few times before that I should record sets like I am headlining a set at my favorite club; that is the idea for this mix. If anything, this mix highlighted a scary truth for me (or more accurately, my USB drive): I have far less peak techno at my disposal than I would have hoped. I feel like this genre is typically a staple in my daily listening, yet scrolling through tracks for this set, I found myself at a loss on what I should play. Either way, the lesson learn is that we could all use more peak techno in our life and on our USB drives, couldn't we? I hope you enjoy!

Aeolian processes are the geological phenomena of sands and silts movement via low winds. These processes erode, deflate, and abrase; there passage over eons causing steady alterations to particularly arid environments.

Listening to this track makes me think of a vast cobalt desert, washed with a deep blue from moonlight--I can't particularly say why. I hope you enjoy.
