Fanontale is an AU that takes inspiration from Undertale fanon perceptions by using it to influence the roles the beloved characters take, as well as manifesting in-universe, affecting the characters and their stories.
This is not an Undertale AU about "What if Undertale fanon was good", but rather one that seeks to answer the question of "what if fanon perceptions had direct consequences for the lives these characters live?"

Sans takes Undyne's role. He's a laidback stand-up comedian, who's adored by all of the underground for his uplifting sense of humour and his down to earth style. It's really what people need in these trying times. While he typically outranks any other star in popularity by a long shot, with crowds forming when there's even a rumour of him going out in public, it seems his reign has come to an end.

Due to Mettaton's rapid decline in popularity (and since every attempt he’s had competing with Sans has blown up disastrously), he's been forced to duke it out with Flowey instead. They fight to be the winner of the "Big Shot of the Week"! A survey the monarchy has set up in order to encourage new creative talents. So, the main mechanic of the Parfait Plains is a ratings system, where Chara can choose which side to help out, boosting their viewership numbers and giving them an edge on the competition. Who will win this poll and win over the people's hearts? Either way, the spotlight's on them!

This is the conclusion to the Parfait Plains. The decisive moment you've all been waiting for. Who will take the crown of true popularity? Who will be announced as monsterkind's true shining star? Our two competitors (and our secret third option?) have fought each other for this the entirety of the duration of the demon's stay at this humble holiday locale. They have demonstrated their strengths (plus weaknesses), their charming personalities (debatably), and their devotion to their goals. But the outcome is ultimately not up to them. The outcome... is up to you.

78. SURPRISE ATTACK !!!

"Back in my day, music didn’t start with pads and kicks—it started with a battered kettle and a bit of luck. But this one—this one’s got legs. Starts off like a fog creeping over the Thames, soft pad and a kick that thumps like a landlord at rent time. Then the bass rolls in, not one but two—greedy little devils—followed by a high synth line that squeals like a fox in the bins.

It builds, it breaks, like a council estate romance—twice over, mind you. Then the pad buggers off, leaves the rest to carry on without it. Brave move. And just when you think it’s done, it cycles through again like a stubborn washing machine.

Made in Cakewalk, with that Loopcloud Play contraption and an Akai MPC that’s seen more action than my old boots. It’s 122 BPM of proper graft. Not bad for a digital lad."
