Born atop the forgotten ruins of a crumbling city, a new civilization had emerged from the ruin wrought by demonkind upon the landscape that lay beneath them. Lead by their prophets of a new and powerful faith, the people of this civilization had risen up against the demon kings, wielding the magic of their divine allies as weapons with which to exorcise their being once more from the land. This war though hard fought had born fruit, and with the slaying of the final demon the people had rejoiced, celebrating their victories with monumental constructions to mark the beginning of a new and golden era. Foremost of these was the great cathedral that lay at the heart of their new city, built both as a space of worship for the populace and as an eternal ward of imprisonment for the souls of demonkind which could not be slain, forever condemning them to an incorporeal existence under the watchful eye of the divine.

Ages had passed since then, and time had once again ground its steady edge against the minds of the people and upon the stones and timbers that had supported the great city for so long. Ritual had been forgotten, and structures of greater grandeur had been built as the city expanded, relegating it’s once monumental cathedral to neglect. Thus it was that the falling of only a single candle had lit an aged timber in it’s great hall, in so doing weakening the ancient wards that had kept the demonic spirits at bay. Ever vigilant in their ceaseless desire to escape, the demon kings fanned this flame with their focused ire, nurturing it from a single mote into a overwhelming conflagration that tore at the runic chains that had bound them for so long. Before long, the roaring of the flames was augmented by the howls of demonic spirits set free from a millennia of imprisonment, their visages taking form in the fire as manifestations of their burning rage. As the inferno bellowed ever higher, the city cowered in fear, for it was clear that the time of DIVERGENCE had come once more.

Volatile Cycle, a name that is becoming firmly cemented into the upper echelons of cutting edge drum and bass is taking the scene by storm with their take on the darker end of the drum and bass spectrum. Consisting of 2 members, Dan Lawrence and James Chick, they began experimenting individually with genres such as garage and glitch hop and eventually found their niche in drum and bass. Building up their rep with a slew of releases on a number of reputable drum and bass outputs, they have worked 
their way up through the ranks to finally drop their debut LP on the seminal and beloved label Renegade Hardware. The Reaktiv LP is a masterclass in drum and music, showcasing their highly refined technical ability, yet still retaining the classic style reminiscent of the early Hardware days. Opening track ‘Wrench’ sets the tone, cutting through with razor sharp precision, whilst ‘Reckless’ and ‘Obey’ dominate the dancefloor with pulsating sub frequencies and rattling percussions. Newcomer to the scene Yen joins forces to unleash sinister undertones with ‘Forgotten Future’, whilst Russian neurofunk whizz Cod3x teams up with the duo to kill the dance with ‘Bounce. Nuklear MC puts his lyrical stamp on the track ‘Status’, a stripped back roller designed to cause maximum dancefloor damage. The Reaktiv LP is a huge milestone for Volatile Cycle. Showcasing their production chops, yet demonstrating an impressive degree of

Fresh collab tune forthcoming on Mainframe Recordings sees DisasZt's sense for raw impact and Erb N Dub's rather playful approach to the rinse-out business come together in a perfect blend.
Hailing from Brighton, Erb N Dub has become a staple in the UK Drum & Bass scene, with releases on RAM, Technique and Playaz, remixes for DJ Fresh, Foreign Beggars and, not least, his recent joint with Krafty Kuts alongside Harry Shotta, which earned him heavy rotation on BBC Radio 1.
Likewise, Vienna's DisasZt, the man behind Mainframe Recordings and one of Europe's largest recurring event series under the same brand,  can't exactly complain about a lack of airplay these days. With decent tunes such as 'Vogue' on Viper, and 'I Got U' (in collaboration with Brazil's Alibi) on V Recordings, he has recently surprised his followers by bringing deep vibes and melodic sweetness to the table. On 'Stop', he now recollects the tried-and-true heavyweight formula he is known and loved for.
Dark and doomy all the way, meandering synth lines and bleepy signals pile up into a throbbing wall of sound, subsequently being riddled by percussive drumfire and chain punch bass hits. Armed with some extra nasty Rave stabs and bass sweeps engaging in call-and-response with that notorious Beastie Boys sample, DisasZt and Erb N Dub are definitely rockin' the sure shot on this one.

The No Concept boys, formerly known as Dubba Jonny & Russla, have wasted no time in establishing themselves as an integral part of the Technique roster. Their huge “Soundcheck EP” set the tone, with heavy rave and radio rotation, and the download chart success to match. Then, we've seen them demonstrate their versatility with their contributions to the Technique Summer 2018 album. Now, it's time for another twist in the tale.

If you've been paying attention, you might have already heard “Grave Digga” doing damage in Drumsound & Bassline Smith's sets over the last few months. That tension-laden intro, made of post-apocalyptic sirens and insistent flecks of guitar, gives notice something dangerous is on its way. Add DnB's punchline slinger SMK into the mix to provide another touch of the darkside, and it all adds up to some weapons-grade rave material.

When the drop crashes in with it's octave-switching basslines, rising chords, and jaw-breaking drums, then you'd better get set for the reload. No Concept have gone full Frankenstein and designed a monster, every element designed to ramp up the energy. Bars for the spit-along crew, rolling beats and bass-weight for the skankers, and all the fills and modulations required to grab the dance's attention and never let it go.

The No Concept name reflects the duo's full-spectrum, no-pigeon-hole approach to production. And, so far, everything we've seen from them has shown us a new angle on their sound. With “Grave Digga”, they've definitively proved their ability to deliver pure dancefloor mayhem, and it begs the question, where can they take us next? Seems like the ride's just beginning.

A shadow fell with bleak weight against the broken cityscape as the towering frame of the scaled behemoth stood above the now desolate metropolis. Cold eyes flickered within the recesses of its heavy skull, surveying its fragmented and twisted domain for any remnants of the fleshy morsels of the living who had once resided there. Beneath its talons shifted stone and metal, groaning under its weight in a cacophanus lament for what had been. It lumbered forward through the carnage of the city, led by its singular mind, barely noticing as each thundering step felled the last vestiges of that once grand city around it. This city on the rocky plain, a pinnacle of the species that built it, now laid to waste by this overwhelming titan of entropy and fury. The towering skyline collapsed around the beast as it effortlessly shifted and demolished with single sweeps of its tail. Issuing a howling, guttural roar of pure, brutal energy, its inhuman rage resounded throughout the city, angular audio reflections bouncing across the broken buildings and striking fear deep into the hearts of those who still clung to a wretched life. They haunted the shadows, hiding from the its ravenous hunger, hidden away in fear amongst the crumbling concrete. With a burst of sudden fury the beast twisted, striking at a skyscraper and tearing it open, spilling the mess of its insides and the once precious multitude of human things across the streets below. But missing was the softness of the meal it craved. It lumbered onward, the strange paths which this insignificant species had laid, leading it through the decaying land... a constant drive for flesh feeding its voracious desire - that endless, unfillable void. Its stride echoed with the ominous assurance of recurrence, its cycle of consumption would begin anew.
