Don't Blame Me

Forming in 2009 while studying on Leeds College of Music’s prestigious jazz degree, Three Shades of Jazz is an accomplished trio featuring Vocals, guitar and bass. As a trio they have played all over the country, catering for weddings and parties receiving high acclaim from audiences and peers. The three of them have a great passion for jazz and use this to create a warm mellow sound which creates the perfect atmosphere for an evenings entertainment.

Claire Colbran - Vocals

Claire Colbran has made a name for herself on the northern music scene. Having trained on the jazz degree course at Leeds College of Music, Claire has a deep knowledge and love of jazz. This is where she met her musical peers and she has played around West Yorkshire for the last 3 years.
With a huge repertoire, she mixes traditional swing with contemporary arrangements. Claire is inspired by such singers as Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan.
Her voice has been described as 'lyrical' and 'engaging' with 'deep and raw emotion'

Mike Chisnall - Guitar

From an early age, Mike Chisnall has proven himself to be a gifted musician and guitarist. After completing his Jazz degree (BA Hons) at Leeds College of Music, and continuing his career as a professional musician, this ambitious 21 year old is demonstrating that over a decade’s worth of training in many different areas; from Rock, Blues, Indian Classical, and in particular Jazz music is paying off. He has also been fortunate enough to study with some of the country’s finest Jazz musicians. Mike has been launching his career by performing in a variety of settings, from successful wedding bands, performing in front of the Queen, musical orchestra’s, and continuing to make his growing impression on the northern Jazz scene.

Simon Read - Double Bass

Simon Read is a Leeds based bassist who recently graduated from Leeds College of Music where he studied jazz. He has been interested in and playing music since early childhood. Encouraged by his musical family, he started out at the age of seven on the violin and at the age twelve was bought a bass by his father and has been playing ever since. 
Since graduating from Leeds College of Music, Simon has continued his career as a bass player in Leeds, playing in his own projects including Simon Read’s Mingus Project and the Simon Read Quartet, as well as regularly playing in the Claire Colbran Quartet and the Mark Donlon Quartet.
